Default 6 post connector in dash behind radio? What is it?

Going a bit bonkers trying to find this,

I do not have a good picture but this should give a general area of where I am looking.

I have looked in PET and I found what I think it is but still not sure cause all but 2 wires are gone It looks to be the connector for the two rear view mirror harness' in pet, not sure of part # as PET is at home and I am not. I can not find any of the wires that are supposed to be connected to it. I have attached a pic of about where it is. I will try to get a better pic up later.

To add a little more info it is rectangular in shape and about 1/2in in height and 2.5in in length and made of white plastic. Could be more than 6 pins but IIRC it was just 6. All that is still connected to it is a white wire w/stripe and a red wire that has been cut not sure of the colors of the stripes ATT.

There is a 6 terminal connector for the AC/Central lock panel

does your central lock work & illuminate - how about your '!' button ??

OK,

Sorry for the delay. Here's a pic. "!" and alarm work, just nothing still on the driver side but I have some other things to address before I get that to work.

Thanks for the help,

Michael

Michael,
Well - it doesn't look like a normal Porsche connector - could it be from an old audio install? anything spliced to that remaining wire? anything on the car that doesn't work? if it is for an old radio that would explain why some wires are missing/cut. Does you radio reception work well - could be that the white (should be just white no stripe) is the antenna RF booster feed? and maybe got left out of an audio upgrade?? test it to see what voltage is on it with ignition on/off?

It may be the lead to the factory amp. Has your stereo been replaced before? If so, the factory amp (passenger side under the hatch button) is bypassed because the newer stereos are much more powerful than that amp. The amp has a couple of large, red wires coming out of it very similar to the ones in your photo.

Hope it helps.

That is the factory stereo harness connector. Should have the following leads - power, switched power, ground, antenna power - and alarm - although perhaps that one only on later cars. Wiring diagrams not close...

Connection for speakers to AMP is a DIN-8 pin (round) black connector.

Alan,

Radio reception is non existant. Guess I really need to pull the H/U and get to the bottom of things. Again the install was a mess and not placing any blame. No crimps or connectors just electrical tape as in the first pic. I'll get it squared away soon enough.

Lots of the wires in the pic are powered output from the head unit as I am using the passive outs now. Still have lots to do.

Thanks for the input!

That make sence why there are no wires in it. The power/ground and some others are in a little taped bundle just to the side. As stated just above I have no radio reception so they must have missed something.

That is still in there hanging out. Factory amp has been pulled but the wiring is still all in place.

Thanks again for the help everyone!

Michael, good luck. This is a link to my stereo install with some diagrams and links that might help.
