Hey, I was wondering how many younger (25 and under) 928 owners we had on the boards? I'm 21 at the moment, and was just wondering if i'm going to be like the youngest person there (besides offspring ;p) if I attend SITM or other events? Just a bit of a census, I suppose :P

cool. i probably won't make it this year either, as my family is going on a cruise the day after... so the only way i'd be able to do it would be to drive from Austin, TX to College Park, MD, to NC for the SITM event, then to FL for the cruise... and even though I drove buses the past few years, putting in well over 1,000 hours, I dont know if I want to spend THAT much time in a car that hasn't been run consistantly in 6 years...

I had been wondering the same thing. I'm 27 and figured I would be one of the younger folks attending SITM. I believe at somewhere like SITM though, it's about the sharks, and age won't matter. Can't wait to meet up with some fellow rennlisters.

I'm 21 but I won't be for long. As far as going to SITM, I'm a senior in college (Mechanical Engineering). I haven't left the house in a month and there's no way I'm leaving any time soon....

Not going to SITM, but I'm 22, turning 23. I was the youngest guy in the area with a 928 when I got mine (I was 18), but I still have the same one, and now 2 more plus a scrapped parts car!
There is another guy on here, Porschepete, and hes 25 with a sweet black '84 5spd.
Good to hear from the young crowd.

Yeah, I'll be 22 at the end of July...
No disrespect meant to any of the older members! Age is meaningless as long as you own a shark I just like to see how many younger guys have 928s, just because it wasn't really a huge car when we were in our preteen-driving age years. Most guys I knew who saw my car at the end of HS were either of the "what the hell is that?" mindset, or they immediately said "omg that's awesome! ... what is it?"
I grew up with the cars though. My car is one of 3 project rebuilt 928's my dad had around since i was just like 4, so I loved them just because they were my dad's cars (and they were so much cooler than the stupid Mercedes S's and E's when i was a little kid). So naturally now I love 'em. My dad now has an S4, I'm restoring my S and making it an S4 (except the engine, which i like better), and this will probably be my only project car for a long time, but oh what plans I have for it...
So I guess another question to the younger crowd is - how did you discover/fall in love with 928's?

For me it was seeing Risky Business when I was about 10 and wondering "what the hell kinda car was that?" To me seeing it from the back for the first time when he starts it in the garage it looked like some round space car, throw in some phone dial wheels and I was amazed. We had the video in our house and I watched it one night when I was home alone. For me there was no internet yet, so I knew it was a Porsche, but had no idea what kind. It stayed in the back of my mind until I rewatched the movie in high school almost seven years later. Then it hit me bad. I forgot all about wanting a corvette, and 928 became my goal. I had some money that was mine* from a previous car accident, only like 1500 bucks. I added 500 to that and that was all I needed to get my Euro in '03 which was the summer after I graduated HS. And so it began.....
*mine: Belonging to me but being guarded and held secure by my mother so I cant get my hands on it and do something crazy** with it.
**crazy: buy a 928 when you are 18 (from mom's POV)

Young members... eh wot?
Oh, I see...Never mind...
There is some hidden wisdom in Ron H's message. Besides remaining young forever, that is.
Eventually, even the youngest will age, and somewhat less gracefully than these wretched 928's,
I might add.
If you bring your main squeeze/hot babe you are in a relatively safe -which one of you snaked my woman? FREE - environment. Really! Most of us are' retired ' BIG Screen **** STARS and have no interest in that sort of thing anymore so you can leave your lady back at the hotel bar with the geriatric Docker squad when you head out on the fun run. Trust us -maybe even Ern- ....
Music, with the exception of Rap, food, booze, background and interests' are generally eclectic.
The interest in the breed is also general from detail, interior, mechanical, and cosmetics.
The Dallas/Austin/Houston/Corpus corridor is where most of the Texas sHARKs cluster so if you don't make it to SITM you shouldn't be Jonesin' for a fest/frenzy or get together with a predominant 928 crowd -other welcome-. Paul and his wife generally show and have that sizzlin ostrich hide interior (custom *****, too) and if the need for speed strikes ya' the Austin Turbo-Meister isn't far from you.
There is an Emergency road help list with phones and addresses- not sure if age defined-, and Rog recently compiled a list from the last get together -unsure if age defined-.
Basically, Pop the hood and mix.
FWIW
My son Zack was 16 when he hit the Blanco Frenzy and was still 16 when he took ownership of
Snowy's great white, 81' - Wyoming pedigree - he now seeks wisdom on the fabled, Texas SC/Turbo Huff Trail .

Hey.... quit counting chest hairs....
Hey.... quit counting chest hairs....
me 31... feel like 16 still...
But I find that most 928 users are more mature... regardless of age...
I was describing my car to a German friend and he described the car as an older gentlemans car....
I also find that some of the younger tuner guys have a lot of good ideas.... the older guys have done it all...
So all around it is a great community... When I was young I always wanted a 928 and finally got arounf to getting one...
