1989 S4 w/83,000 miles automatic gearbox,,,, just noticed in the last couple of days after driving roughly 30 miles and places the car in "PARK", I get a buzzing coming from the back. Place the car in reverse, neutral, or any other gear and the noise goes away. Put in back in Park and the buzzing starts again. Anyone have anything like this? Just trying to get an idea of what to check before I jack it up this weekend to check the fluid level.

Hard to say Jeff, but we had a 94 GTS up here with the same noise only when in park..never when in gear.
The owner did a bunch of stuff...including seals etc..redone valve body etc....I think he finally cured the problem by replacing the guts of one tranny with one from a donor rebuild....Not exactly sure what the final solution was..only heard it was some sort of pin in the tranny.
If I can get more details I'll let you know.
Also...on the cheaper side...could it be your fuel pump ?....not sure why it would only buzz in park...but sometimes you never know.
Good luck,
Tom
