All,

I am lookign forward to the next Porsche GT, which the 928 was is and remains. I would not think twice before hopping into the Panamera while at the same time keeping and still cherishing my 928S4 and hopefully GT (Scott.. you know i will be coming for your car soon). Anyways,my complaint on the 928 is the lack of knowledgeable people to work on it, and wost than that... many people who have it are ignorants, little kids or just regular joe shmoes that think it is a chevy and drive it like one. The 928 is a stellar car and like other exotics does suffer from low volume production parts that might fail due to the lack of qualifying/testing volume. Having its value go down has placed it in many hands that appreciate it and love it and care for it, but also i have seen it end up with some undeserving people's hands that treuly put to to shame in negligence (which by the way helped give it a bad rep for maintenenace and quality)... just my 1c

Sincerely,
Khaled

Bought my 928 new in 81, still have it, still the best GT there is.
Never had a 911, never wanted one.. way to common!
Now, if only my wife would stop refering to it as 'that thing!'

Count yourself lucky she's not refering to something else.

I said it before and will say again. What as happen to the Jag E type and Healey will most likekly happen to the 928. The reason it as not happen yet as to do with the 18 years of production, give it another 5/10 year and it should happen... I will test that theory and keep mine

i agree, it is only a matter of time... i think i read where nicole said that if you ask anyone what a porsche is they will say its a 911 but if you ask what the best car porsche made was the answer is the 928. awesome car way ahead of the curve, which is still only just catching up. GTS cars with low mileage and in excellent condition sell for 20k + pounds sterling.

I guess I have heard a few folks over time disrespect the 928, but the most have come from 911 owners. I just laugh and shake my head. I could care less whether they make another 928 or something that compares to it. It would be great, but I would say 5% of us would be able to afford it....doesn't mean we would buy it though. I am certainly not one of them.

I too have seen prices steadily increase as I watch the Autotrader and Ebay. I applaud it, but I have always said, the guys that really kill this cars value, are the 928 owners themselves. Over the years, I have seen so many members on the 928 Forum band together like wolves and trash someone for listing a car at a value they feel is beyond their own reach. Everyone talks about how great the 928 is, but when it comes time for value...it's worthless. It's so damn hipocritical and I see it nearly everday on this list. I think until we as owners are willing to pay more, it's going to be a long time before we see these cars at prices we can no longer afford.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Everyone wants a free ride, and it was this that compelled me to 'donate' my project away. I literally wrestled with the consequences, and felt that I was disrespecting a work of art rendered in aluminum and steel by allowing my own weakness and inadequacy take action.

At the end of the day, I didn't have the $20k to do what I should have done, I hope someone out there does, and does right by her.

That about sums it up! Like Tim said, "I couldn't have said it better myself." ditto

......wait til the "new" 928 comes out at $150k? Guess I could sell all the 928s for one?

The new 928 (panamera) will probably be $130K+....& thats for the "base" V8 engine....want the V10 or V8TT...$150K plus......Porsche will have a hard time selling the volume it wants (20K cars a year) in that price range.....now if they could drop it down to less than $100K with the V10 or V8TT with the base car around $70K....then they could move alot of those!!

A 928 with inflation would be in the $130-150 price range anyway! The bummer on the panamera is you drop $130K on one and two years later its worth $80K!!!! Or less maybe? Drop $60K on that super clean 95 GTS and in two years....Its safe to say your not gonna loose $50K like the panamera!

You could always trade in your 997S for the new 928 when it comes out? ;>)
