A crossing guard for a school cross walk or picking up trash on the interstate highway..... he chose the crossing guard work. Ironically he told me that he was almost hit by people speeding on a daily basis.... (2 hours per day = 10 days) the reason I know this was I was one of the people that helped him get to work since he couldnt drive.
I expected a post like this...
Hence the reason I put "CAUGHT" in the title...it's already a matter of public record.

122 in a 55. in the old 78 euro.
I was attending rutgers U in Newark and took RT21(nice twisty highway) into the city one night to meet some friends.

I pulled on to the highway and since there was very little traffic, I thought I'd have some fun and stretch the 928's legs. 20 miles later, as I slowed down reaching the end of the highway(the road turns into a 2 lane city road with traffic lights), I was shocked to see what appeared to be two cruisers approaching me head on.

I decided I would pull over to let them by as we seemed to be on a collision course(Never thought for a minute that I had anything to do with it). Since I had slowed down to well below the speed limit, I checked the rearview to make sure no one was trying to pass on my right as I pulled over. Needless to say, upon looking in the rearview, I saw a wall of flashing lights indicating I was in deep sh*t. When I stopped, I was litterally surrounded by cruisers.

The first officer who approached my car was a Newark cop who politely asked me to get my documentation and follow him to his car. As I got out I saw the 8+ cruisers and gaggle of cops eyeing me with complete contempt.

I was asked the usual questions and answered truthfully and politely(all the while shaking his head). He said that the reason that I was sitting in his cruiser was that the other cops, from various towns wanted to beat the **** out of me. He then began to explain the situation.

I was originally clocked doing 85 in the town of Clifton. The Clifton cops began pursuit and radioed ahead to Nutley. When they couldn't catch me, they radioed ahead to Belleville. When they had no luck, the Belleville cops finally radioed Newark who set up the rolling roadblock. It just so happens that rt21 is a common corridor used by car thieves in bring stolen cars to the chop shops.

Since the only actual proof they had of me speeding was from the clifton police, they issued me a ticket for 85 in a 55 and a guarantee that if they would remember me if I tried to fight it in court. I took a different route home

Dave you got caught on RT21

I find it funny because I have never driven Rt 21 without someone passing me at well over 100mph. Leave it to those Clifton cops to bust your chops in a safe Porsche while all those falling apart Maxima's go flying by. Rt 21 and Rt 19 for years were never patrolled because of the battle over whose jurisdiction it was, could go as fast as you wanted. You have to watch out now, mostly county cops patrolling them and they don't like speeders.

I had a ticket in CA a while ago (1-2yrs) that my attorney negotiated to 99mph in a 70mph. The ticket was for issued for "Max Speed" and required a mandatory suspension of my license. How fast was I going..? Officialy I don't remember. Members of my local PCA may remember, as it was on a "fun run" out to the central valley, and they voted to buy me a full lunch at Harris Ranch for highest personification of "spirit of Porsche motoring." Anyway, the DL was not suspended due to the deal. However, the fees were substantial.

I have also been "flashed" in Germany on some of the restricted highways for 285kmh in 130kmh zones.... Well, the transition from unrestricted to restricted takes longer sometimes...

Yeah, and that happen in the late 80's. I imagine i'd be locked up if it happened now.

RT19 and 80 near it is heavily patrolled by Passaic county sheriff's officers. Word is they're witing a lot of tickets since the need for their existence has been in question.

"About 90" in a 50, central Oregon mountains. No ticket,
but the Sgt. had a fine lecture for me. Said he couldn't
get a good radar fix because of the twisty mountain roads.

He also recommended a good place for lunch. Very nice
fellow; hope to see him again, under other circumstances.

G'luck, all.

110 in a 65. It was a 2 lane road and I was passing about 10 cars behind a motorhome pulling a trailer. When I was at the back I took a look and thought no problem for the 928. The pass was easy but just after I completed it a CHP came over the horizon with his radar on. He was not amused. He said he might have let me slide at 80 but no way at 110 plus. Over 100 in CA is a big no no and has possible jail time so I hired an attorney. He got it reduced to under 100 and the fine was $270 plus his fees. An expensive ticket but could have been much worse. I did have my 10 year old son with me at the time which saved my but. The cop wanted to put me in jail on the spot but had no place to hold a minor.

Well, let's just say that I know someone who had a helicopter come down next to him matching his speed and letting him know that he should slow down.

In the North of Sweden it has happened that people outrun the police helicopters, the roads there are not the best in the world but they are often straight with no traffic.

Mark,
Not very responsible. You know that there is a proper place to enjoy the capabilities/limits of your fine Pcar. I suggest you contact your local PCA and inquire into possibly taking part in a DE. You may find yourself bitten by the bug and who knows, someday may actually participate in a full blown race. But let's not get ahead of ourselves here, first step first.

Cited for 80 in a 65, but I contend I was moving slower. Midnight, dark three-lane interstate, me and a monsterous Dodge 4x4 side-by-side (not racing) and an open road ahead. I think the cop got the truck. Took the class.

This particular site has been, in the past, one of my favorite leg-stretching roads where speeds higher than eighty could have been recorded...

I'm waiting for Dave and Garrity to chime in-- they both have great stories. Boys?

Derek I average one speeding ticket every 22 years... I really do not drive very fast at all on the street.
