whitefox It has some sort of aftermarket front spoiler on it...
No just painted body colour, sorry but I was disapointed with that clip, wish we knew a Big Time director to do the car a proper service. That might help create a revival.

I watched this film last night - not bad, and very funny in places - also has a red 924 in it...and some kind of Fiat..wait, maybe it was a Ferrari...who cares.

Funny enough, a NTSC converted copy of this movie is on one of the DVD newsgroups* right now.

I'm DL'ing it now; should be done in a few hours.

Got it!

I skipped through it, and there's quite a few scenes with the 928 (and 924). Funny the 928 has later wheels which are not right for the period, and no side markers at all!

I'll watch it tommorrow.

..wish we knew a Big Time director to do the car a proper service.
uhm..we do..well, I kind of sort of.

Not sure if you or many folks are aware of Tony Maylam..lives in the UK. World reknown film maker that has many credits to his name. A series that was put together by he and Alain de Cadenet was titled "Victory By Design" featuring several long time championship marks....including the Porsche. Unfortunately, the 928 among other models was not mentioned.

If one has never seen any of these, my lord, you just don't know what you are missing. EVERY auto enthusist should have these editions in their library. Simply fabulous.

So, me being the "WTF" type of guy, I contacted him. Although, our discussion was brief and by email, it was rather pleasant and open ended. I was so impressed with his work, that I had asked him directly about doing a piece on the 928. He hailed the car as a favorite for both he and Alain and remarked how fantastic a GT car it is. He is open to putting a project together, but would require the funding to support it. I had left it as, if the funds were ever made available, I would contact him.

My guess would have to be figures in the low to mid 6 digit range...I certainly wasn't going to outright ask him. I just tallied in my head the cost of securing a location, shipment of speciman cars to the location, film, catering, mechanics, lighting, sound company, legal dept and all else that goes with it. It is by no means a major feature, but I would think to get a wet 928 foot, the cost will be north of $100K...just guessing here. Oh yea...I would certainly want Alain to do the narrating/comentating!

So if anyone wants to put a fund together and has pull with some corps that need a money shelter or has pull at Porsche, shout it out. I have no problem being a part of something like this. Not sure who it would entertain other than us 928 owners.

I tried hard to get the Scripps Network for the last 2 years to do a piece on the 928, it was a show they used to have called ACarography. It was a bear to do and by the time I got to them, they had all they needed and phased the show out. I even went through Dick Messer, director of the Petersen Auto Museum as he was the guru on that show. I just couldn't get it done. I was a nobody with no pull.

Who knows...maybe a piece with the right timing could get to an audience and create an awareness for the 928 and revitalize it's future..and past. Wouldn't it be nice to get Stuttgart involved and possibly cross promote the "new" 928...at least this might help it become a reality.

I am always open for suggestions!

At the very least, me and another SOCAL'er have discussed putting a short film together featuring the 928...haven't done a thing yet.

Keith that is visionary! How wonderful it ould be!!!! Count me in to support such an effort. A tall order, but I would kill for such a video. Agreed, Victory by Design is my favourite .... Don't you just drool over the 962 roadcar in the Porsche episode?
