The 993 clutch uses a master cylinder and slave cylinder it sounds like you are not getting a full release try pumping the clutch pedal pulling it all the way up etc. The master cylinder may not be returning hiigh enough to get adequate fluid. Driving it this wasy with clutch dragging is very hard on the transmission.

Same recalcitrant 2nd gear when cold. <40ish.
Guess it's time to ditch the Redline mt-90 and join the Mobile 1 bandwagon.
List of things to do.
LOF
Fresh brake juice
Mobile Uno gear juice.

Mine started doing the same thing when I put ATE Super Blue brake fluid in. I have Mobile 1 75W90 in the diff, and never had trouble before the super blue. I think it's thicker since it has a higher boiling temp so it's harder to move when it's cold (below 45F). The same thing happened when I flushed the Boxster with super blue so I'm going to the ATE gold with a little lower boiling point.
Check your clutch pedal and make sure the push rod is touching the top of the master cylinder piston. If it's pulled up from the piston a little, that's less fluid being pushed through the system to the release arm. If it's not returning all the way, like Jim was talking about, you can do a MC rebuild pretty easily from inside the car and it could take care of that problem.
