Rotors and disti caps this week end
I followed up the spark plug R&R with a fresh set of rotors and disti caps this past weekend. Gave me a chance to clean up my belt covers too, since I also checked my belt tension with my trusty Kempf tool....and got curious what the driver side looked like under the belt cover.
Everything was in great shape, belt tension was right on, after 4 years of use. No belt "traveling" and cam and crank gears look nearly new.....(G has 100,002 miles on her).
The little cap head screws that hold the rotors on have lock washers on them.....they are TIGHT little buggers. I have a set of long allen wrenches and that made all the difference in the world getting the littla bast$%#s to break free. You can strip them too if you keep at it, so you want to break them free with the first application of torque, if you can manage it.
I was also surprised how tight the distributor cap screws were on too, but on reapplication I could see that the caps and the hardware are designed to take the torque.
Gotta finish splicing the AF meter into the O2 sensor then I can wake G up from her winter slumber and listen to her growl at me......
Man I love wrenching on this beast!!!!!!!!!!!
