Default Stray hoses?

In replacing the MAF on my '88 S4 auto (It was another John Speake Masterful Ressurection!), I found two unattached hoses lying against the firewall. One (1) came from one of the lateral sides of the 5-part rubber "T" near the driver side pressure damper. The PO had plugged it with a metal screw! The other (2) came from the vertical side of the "T." On p. 24-216 of the WSM the fuel path diagram says (1) goes to the auto transmission. Should I assume this means the modulator? And where is it? The hose is only about 8-10" long and I don't see any fitting around the top of the tranny that it would fit. (2) looks like it connects to a fitting in the front of the throttle body. Is that right? There was misty gas around the end of (2).
