Default Crimper for tensioner boot?

Hi,
I'm going to replace my leaking tensioner boot 1984S USA. I'm going to try to do it in place, but if I can't, I'll remove it.
I got my boot and clamp. What is the best tool to crimp this clamp and where do I get one? Are there screw(worm) type clamps that would work as well or better? I notice the factory clamp is quite narrow (1/4-5/16"), would a hardware store SS hose clamp work?
Working with tensionerin place, what tool might work? I know I could just try to improvise with vise-grips or end-cutters but I guess someone has already solved this problem.
Thanks in advance,
Dave McK.

I used a set of pre-dulled cheapo end cutters and it worked fine. I use the same tool for the bands on the half-shaft boots and such, works fine there too.

The narrowest common screw clamp might work, but you'd be hunting for one that would reach all the way around. Local parts place carries some that would work if I used two of them end-to-end, but then there would be two screw/gear ends to tuck in there somehow.

I thought half-seriously about using a hi-strength tie-wrap for this duty, and might have tried it if my tie-wrap gun would pull hard enough. It may be that the correct application of a set of lineman pliers would get enough tension on the plastic clamp. You also want to choose the clamp itself carefully, since the temperature is potentially a bit high in there. Don't want something that will get crispy and fail in service later.

End cutters work just fine, especially when sharp .... Actually, this type of clamp can be reopened with a small flat blade screwdriver and reclamped tightly: it doesn't matter that it's a 10 cent item ... unless the next one is over a thousand miles away ..

Thanks,
I've got a few alternatives. Just for fun I ordered 4- 14"SS zip ties from Eastwood designed to hold header wrap, just in case.
