Dang, I thought Roger was getting me a present. I've always loved the color combo, and my wife would love driving it. I deserve it more than a 15 YO! Whaaaaaa!!!!!

Does he want her to live or die? His choices of cars for her sounds like he might not mind the latter. Sorry, but these cars are not good choices for drivers that young and unexperienced.

I considered this car back in summer 2005. I called the number-- I believe it was on Autotrader at the time. I didn't like the non-OEM wheels nor the shifter but I gave him a jingle at the time. He volunteered to go to the garage and start the car and then it would not start. He said, "Oh, I forgot, I removed the tank hose from the tank to the fuel pump for my other 928." Okay, fair enough. I would have remembered that, but anyway, he says he is waiting for the part and he will call me. It was weeks maybe more than a month before I get a call. He left a message but I had already purchased another 928S4.
Anyway, that's all I know. I really like the color actually. Something different than red which is what I got. Hope that helps.

I agree with Nicole here. Maybe this girl is mature enough to handle cars like these, but I would not chance it. Especially since any b/f she has will be sure to want to "drive" them every chance he gets.
I hate seeing new teen drivers behind the wheel of cars like this. Makes me feel less safe on the road. I am not judging anyone for their choices, but I know when my daughter is 15 year old she won't be driving a a car like this around.. To each their own.

Hello,
I drove this car back in September/early October. The car drove really smooth, plenty of power there. Paint is not original, looks like its peeling off in some places especially around trim and corners. Interior was in good shape but not a fan of the color(Magenta like). It has a cat-by pass exhaust on it but it looked rusty to me, said he had the original. Has an upgraded stereo but but seems that the stereo was upgrade sometime in mid-90's. I noticed whenever I let off the gas I heard a clicking noise coming from the rear somewhere, could be a few things. It was a pretty tight car overall but he has been having trouble selling it and it has been on the market for quite some time. Maybe theres more to it but I wasn't too serious about it when I went to check it out. If I was, I would get a PPI just to make sure. Overall it's a decent car. If the repaint doesn't bother you then go from there. I wasn't impressed by the quality of the paint job. Any other questions I'll see if I can remeber anything about the car.

Chris,
Chris thanks for the post.
The owner said it had been re- clearcoated and that it is peeling in a couple of areas.
Could be the original paint maybe?
Dave is going to find time to have a look and be my eyes.
We will see.

him: "what year is your car"
me: "its a 1985 US 5sp."
him: "is that 16v or 32v"
me: "well, its a US spec car so it's a 32v"
him: "ah, so it's an 85 and a half"
me: "no, it's a US 85 they were all 32v, euro 85 was 16v"
him:"no, you are wrong, unless you want to tell me the 928 specialist website is wrong"
Me:"Ok maybe your right" <I didn't come here for a debate>
I hate when things start out like this but whatever, switched attention to the car at hand.
Seller stated that he bought the car for his GF last year but she left him shortly after.
I took quite a few pics but like an idiot, I got home and realized that I didn't have a card in the camera. I did not drive the car but the owner did have it running when I arrived. Anyway, here is a breakdown of my observations.
Engine/drivetrain:
1) Engine looks fairly clean with the exception of some oil residue on the lower part of the belt covers. (May be atf from the power steering resevoir hose)
2) The car is leaking some coolant(on top in the vicinity of the temp sensor). Very minor but of course requires attention.
3) Oil pressure 3 at idle pings 5 at >3000rpm. Oil is clean. Cap shows no telltale signs of moisture.
4) Valve train sounds good , no valve tapping etc. Belts, pullies sound good(no bearing noise, or whining. No sign of rod knock.
5) Original intake powdercoating is intact, valve covers clean. Throttle cables and linkage smooth.
6) Fluid levels look good.
7) No noticeable TT bearing sound, although since I did not drive the car, I did not check it under load.
8) Tranny was clean and fluid smelled OK.
Interior:
1) Door panels, headliner look good, no warping marks or discoloration.
2) Aftermarket Polk speakers in the doors.
3) Minimal warping of the rear interior quarters.
4) Usual cracks in the dash and pod.
5) Carpets look good with no visible tears and clean(although burgundy hides dirt quite well).
6) For what it's worth, no warning lights on the dash.
7) Seats are in good shape with some wear on the drivers side bolster but no tears.
8) Glass is tinted, but done tastefully (not too dark).
9) Sunroof works smoothly as does the rear hatch release.
Exterior:
1) Original cassirot paint is in decent shape. There is one spot(7"x4") above the fuel cap door where the Clearcoat has peeled off. The odd thing is that the there is a layer of clearcoat on the paint beneath, leading me to believe that at some point, someone had tried a repair of the peel.
2) A small crease <2" in length exists on the passenger side wheel well.
3) There is also an attempted touchup repair done on the lower passenger side rear bumper cover, a line about 5" in length.
4) The window moulding looks to be in good shape with no discoloration and very minor warping of the quarter glass moulding(actually you have to look close to see it.
5) There are aftermarket headlight bulbs installed, those blue lith ones. The drivers side high beam is inop, lows are fine.
6) The wheels are cup knockoffs and a bit odd looking but in good shape. 205/17 front, 255/17 rear, pirellis are thin and about 20% tread remaining.
7) Exhaust is intact with the exception of a RMB but the owner does have the original muffler as well.
Overall, the car does not look bad and seem to indicate that the car was not abused. The items that seem to need attention(wp/tb) are items that I usually replace when I purchase a car. If I was looking, my preliminary inspection indicates that it may be a good candidate. I would of course go with a more thorough PPI including thrust bearing preload inspection as well as compression/leakdown tests etc.
That's about it off of the top of my head. If there are any questions, I'll see if I can answer them. Sorry I didn't get any additional pics, I do feel like an *** having snapped off about 25.

Dave,
Thank you the points you covered are exactly what I wanted to know.
Shame about the pics but I have enough.
Let me know what I owe you for your time etc etc.
I am assuming I can have the clear coat redone so that is not a problem.
The rest I would do anyway.
Thanks, thanks.

Glad to know I could be of help. I wish I'd had the pics as they showed the areas I described that required attention.
As far as owing me anything, I will hold you liable for a beer if ever we meet.
I believe the clearcoat can be redone easily as it seems the base is in perfect condition and was never fully exposed. One of the PO's might have had the clear resprayed when the original began looking dull.
I always do the tb/wp as you do since I will never assume a PO or shop did it right. In the past I had dealers charge >3000 onl,y to find out months later that they did a shoddy job and reused parts that should have been replaced.
Good luck going forward and if I can be of further help, let me know.

So, when is my Cassisrot being delivered Rog? I can't wait to drive it! BTW, I can prolly help with the clear coat repair. I've got a detail gun, an airbrush and some Dupont clear and catalyst. don't know what is on it now, but I should be able to feather it in okay. We'll have to buff it out after some baking.
