I have used SEM several times and it was relatively easy (if you follow instructions) and painless. It lasts well, and doesn't smell. I had no trouble at all finding an auto paint supplier to mix the formula that I got from SEM after sending them a sample to match. It DID match. Unfortunately, I used it without specifying low gloss on my NOS dash so now I must respray with a dulling agent. But I also used it on steering wheel leather and it is holding up well. ( I scratched one wheel with a key when I got out of the car so I need to re-do that one). I will finish the door panels leather and other parts someday when I have a weekend. I have nothing but praise to say about SEM and their customer service. I still have some dye for both leather and plastic/vinyl, as well as their leather conditioner/prep and cleaner. I will think about using SEM crack filler on my bolsters when the cracks get too bad, but for now they are not so bad. By the way, I used a preval sprayer to apply the leather and the vinyl dyes. Worked well.
No, I don't have any special interest in SEM; just a satisfied customer.

So, how many people have used leatherique? I'm a week or so from undergoing a rejuvination then recolor project (brown to cork), and I want to make sure I go with the best option. It seems Leatherique is apart from this one case, quite a high reputation.
Also, what is the ideal application method?

Alright, since I started this thread...let give the final conclusion.
1. SEM is superior in every way to Leatherique.
2. Leatherique DOES smell. But you will notice the smell more on hot days, especially if the car has been sitting in the hot sun. The smell?? Kinds like of old cardboard. If you've only used a little bit, the smell will be less. But if you did a complete color change, then prepare your self...
3. SEM smells only for the first three days(very strong). Sort of like nail polish. But is completely odorless regardless of temperature once it's fully cured.
4. SEM goes on smoother, less sanding required.
5. Leatherique WILL deteriorate within months of using. It's not a problem of adhesion(it's sticks well), but sort as if the paint is breaking down and drying itself out.
6. Leatherique rejuvenation oil is GOOD! BUT, it also smells....BAD!.
7. SEM is used by new car dealers like Lexus and Mercedes on their "approved used". How do I know?? I know the guys that use it...
If you are one of those that say that leatherique does not smell, then it probably means that your car has "other" smells that are competing with it.... My 928's smell "NEW". I used SEM on my Mercedes 02" E320.... I would NOT have used leatherique....NO WAY

Weisach,
Here in Los Angeles, there are tons of stores that carry SEM products, my question is, can I just waltz in and say my interior color is Cork, set me up please? Or is it more complicated than that?
Is airbrushing best?
Thanks,
Scott

Whatever you use please post pix of the results. That's a change I'd consider doing.

I used this on my car. I sent the company a sample patch of Graphite Grey(newer Porsche color), they matched it. I then recolored my back seats, consoles and side panels on the door . At the same time i had my Cerrullo seats made in the same color...bought the carpet in the same color.
Like getting in a new car!.
The thing i liked was that it never looks glossy and shiny. I just wipe it down with a damp cloth to clean it.
Im still trying ot get up the nads to to the dash..headliner pillars..rear quarters etc etc. I like the grey on black in my car, but i also love the all grey interiors.

what did you do in the way of prepping, sand the leather only, i like the leatherique cause they have a system to follow, i am sure SEM does as well i just have not been made aware of it
Weissach, i dont doubt there are alternatived to leatherique, I do like that i can call them up and get a kit sent out to me. What all is involved in the SEM process, i guess i should check their website as it maybe posted there.

I had my seats done by a franchise called "Color Glo" I think they use a process similar to SEM, since its been 8 months since I have the repair done and it still looks great! Of course the 1/4 panels are next!

Tony I've used Colorplus for years It's the best on the market
The Colorplus material that Tony has posted I've used for years. When you send them a color sample (of your aged interior they will match it exactly to your color) A comprehensive explanation about working with leather and their products can be found at this link

I highly recommend reading this before you do any leather coloring work.
