Yes, however 928 and 930 are worlds apart, no common parts, so he has none. He also does not have the 928 knowledge or history. Can get it, but say he needs a fender. Or both. or a spoiler. Will he pay $1k for them, or will he know a guy with a set for 300? If his cam breaks, where will he source a replacement? Will he pay 8k like my PO, only to have them instal a wrong year tensioner at great expense, causing the engine to eat the tbelt?

The 86.5 is not much more than the brakes. The exhaust is the same except for the rear muffler that can be removed withouth cutting. If you don't look at the little nick nacks like the third break light, the ABS being standard option and the left cam gear cover being shorter, the rest of the car is 99.99% same as other '85-'86 32V-ers. I have both and did compare the two.

My first 928 was a euro 81. I found it to be easy to work on and *lots* simpler design than my 89. I would recommend it, as long as he has common automotive sense and it will not be his primary means of transportation.

The deep end of the pool aint so bad guys. My euro was my first 928, after wanting 1 for 20 years. I have done TB, MM, just about every external part of the engine, tranny service, custom exhaust, and the ever fun engine pull in my 2 1/2 years of ownership. Thanks to J morehouse, the big 2, and some great rennlisters.
So i know about parts. But my experience is one of the reasons i say it is best if the 928 is not your daily driver. The car in question would be a lot of fun to redo as long as that red paint hasn't faded.
abby, your secret is safe with me
Yeah we all like the 928 but our particular version best.

Exhaust is not the same, not even close. Here is a pic of the '86 exhaust next to the 86.5 exhaust. Big difference. The whole underbody of the car is different.
