Lookin kinda dirty under them hoods, don't ya think?

When Ann first looked under a Cayanne hood, she asked "why the hell all the plastic? You can't even see the engine. That's stupid!"

The new trend with auto makes is to cover the engine with a huge plastic cover. It creats a more cleaner look. Even my commuter car (2000 Jetta TDI) has one. Was I ever shocked when I first removed it for an oil change. The VW 1.9 TDI engine is absolutelly UGLY.

Your right on that one...most new cars are totally shrouded in plastic! It sucks...especially when the cars age....the plastic will fade and discolor at different rates in different spots due to heat etc....in 10 years they will probably look really crappy!

About the only good I can think of when looking at the shrouded engines is there is is less to clean and prepare on a concours type car...look at the Cayenee....that would be pretty easy to prepare....compared with a 928!
