Forbes.com has an article about the "Cars of the Stars", but they spend a good portion talking about the 928 in Risky Business.

We were surprised to learn Tom Cruise has been seen driving a Porsche 911 around Los Angeles. After all, driving a Porsche would seem to be tempting fate, considering what happens to his character in 1983's Risky Business.
Cars have been linked with movies and movie stars for decades, and Risky Business has one of the most famous star-and-car pairings of all time. In several memorable scenes, the movie's leading character, Cruise's "Joel," drives his father's Porsche 928 sports car around suburban Chicago while his parents are out of town.
We see Joel street-racing after dark and then, after winning, repeating the company's famous slogan, "Porsche. There is no substitute."
Then, of course, vehicular tragedy strikes: Joel accidentally submerges the Porsche in Lake Michigan. Cut to the dealership where the car has been towed, and the service manager enters the waiting room with one the greatest jokes in movie history: "Who's the U-boat commander?"
But maybe Cruise doesn't need to worry about a similar accident happening in real life. After all, he must remember Risky Business every time he takes the wheel of a Porsche and must be extra careful not to let the car roll off a pier.
For a look at the rides of choice for Cruise and other celebrities, please follow the link below. Please note that in each slide, the star in question may not drive the specific trim level or model-year car pictured in the photos.

Did you notice in the Movie, the car they sank was a junker, not even the same color as the one they picked Lana up in. It was like a 78 or 79 model, the real one was like an 83.
