I enjoy reading the my boost is better than your boost, and appreciate different viewpoints. But when I read a thread title such as Rear Mount Turbo Progress?????? that is what I would like to read about. Is it possible to edit hijacked threads and start a new thread with that info in its own thread? Then if I want to read a "dsicussion" about why 3.09 gears do or don't make a difference I won't get sidetracked by non relevant issues.

Rick is right. The next guy that does a search to find existing tips for sourcing parts for a project has a boat load of cow patties to read through.
While it is fun to fuel the fires of debate, we are doing future users a real disservice. Perhaps we can help our moderators out by suggesting the post # where the origninal topic has strayed from which to cut and paste into a permanaent BOOST DEBATE thread.
It is not about freedom of speech, censorship, or any of that. It is about respecting others and maximizing the utility of our Rennlist resources. I can't imagine anyone not buying into what Rick proposes.

I agree as being new to the 928 I find that it's a real PITA to do searches and sort through all the bs that comes along in some of the posts thats why I just ask questions straight out and try to use my own threads as ongoing discussions. ......... Hey look a duck!

Ever notice that we have nearly turned the technical forum into a chat room?
OK. My turn to hijack.
Post pics of your coolest 928 T-shirts here.

As a point of order, general bitching (as opposed to 928 specific bitching) is more appropriately done in the OT forum......where it inevitably receives the same warm reception......

All you really need is the turbo, 2.5" piping (exhaust shop has it), tranny cooler line, frame-mount oil cooler (perma-cool makes them), Shurflo 8000-343-236 oil pump, small oil tank/reservoir of your choice for a supply, CIS intake adapter from 928 Motorsports (Quick Carl), silicone hose connectors for the charge pipe to the compressor outlet, K&N filter for the compressor inlet, silicone connector for the CIS adapter to the charge pipe, and little gator clamps for the oil lines and what-not.
You'll also need a boost gauge and an air/fuel ratio gauge too and hook ups for those as well.
You'll need some sort of wastegate set up on your turbo, and I think a small Tial unit would be great.
So, with that stuff you should be pretty well set! The cool thing about the CIS is that it will adjust fuel up to a certain psi by itself based on demand according to the air flow. You can run 8psi with no fueling modifications. Above that, you'll be looking at an extra injector or something.

I think single turbo is not quite as good as a twinscrew SC, which, as we all know, is better than a centrifugal SC, depending on your application, but then again twin turbo seems to be the ultimate all around, but not cost efficient solution, which brings us back to single turbo as the next best thing, which as mentioned above, is not quite as good as a twinscrew SC...
...but that reminds me of the important question: where did you install your boost guage? post pics please!!
