I'll have an switch in the driving compartment to turn the accusump on when going to the track. Normal driving I'll just keep it shut off.
Rehan,
Could you PM me withyour email address? The pic files I have on the Accusump install, 27 total, are 5.6 mb in a zipped file. Too big for Rennlist.

Mad Louie,

Now, where's the real bomb switch hidden on your Interceptor, mate? That's clearly a decoy.

That's the arming switch for the J.A.T.O. bottle. That cavity under the bumper cover is also a good place for concealed container of roofing nails and ball bearing mix which can be dumped (solenoid activated trapdoor) when necessary. That would be very soon after the blue lights appear close in the rear view mirror.

With that rear bumper placement, are you concerned about an impact from the rear during a track or street fender bender?

Yes, I thought about that and deduced that if a rear impact bent the bumper and damaged the Accusump that replacing the Accusump would be a small part of the total damage. There is some small chance of a rear impact breaking the short pipe nipple that feeds the Accusump too, but figured if it was hit that hard, the car would be moved on a flatbed anyway. It's all tucked up out of the way where road debris isn't likely to hit anything.

Louie, please do post your pictures (and whatever else I/we could twist your arm into posting) about your rear under-the-bumper install. My next project on the "Walt" (the '89) is a rear-mounted accusump...

I doubt that I should use that much Rennlist bandwidth to post all those pictures and some narritive on how I did the installation. The pics alone are almost 6mb, but they are 1024x968 size and I could make them smaller to help.

I can also arrange the pictures in a .pdf file along with some suggestions for the install. Is there a way I can upload that (.pdf file) to Rennlist so others can use it? I'm not too Rennlist proficient.

Otherwise, PM me with your email address and I'll send the file to you.

Louie, you can upload the PDF (or the pictures) to your Rennlist Member's website and then reference them via URLs in posts to threads. Your cut of JD's disk space is one of the things you get for your members fee.

Not a lot of work really. It takes about 5 minutes to figure out how to upload the files to your 'site'. And you don't need to worry about making web pages or anything if you don't want to; you can just dump the files and then refer to them via HTTP links.

EDIT:

Start Here (I think)

Ok. I suppose that is the "Upload photo" option at the top right side of the page. I'll get on that tonight.

Not sure about that.

But, if you click on the link from my post, enter your Rennlist member info, and then click on to Please CLICK HERE to Register your Rennlist Website you will be one step away from having your very own Rennlist website address.

Once you get past that you'll have a screen that looks like this:

Thanks for the tip. I did register for the web site and got that going. When I attempt to upload the file I get a "Bad Gateway" error.

I'll try to upload the file again tomorrow.

I'm pretty much striking out on this. The .pdf file I was trying to upload to my Rennlist web site was near 10mb and I kept getting either "Bad Gateway" or "Failure to connect to server" errors. Maybe that was a result of some weirdness of my almost wideband satellite ISP. Maybe there is a file size limit on uploads to the Rennlist web site. I can upload smaller files to Rennlist web site with no problem. I split the file in two so each was approx 5mb and got the same thing. I tried to upload to my regular web site, www.performance928.com, and found that I have a size limit for files that I can place there.

I can email both part 1 and part 2 of the instructions if the recipients email box will hold that much. If someone else can post these files somewhere, I can send them.

I found that the 3 quart Accusump mounted neatly in the cowling, right side, where the heater core and fan were. The heater core, defroster fan, and AC evaporator core came out anyway to lighten the car, and the hole was covered with a piece of aluminum. Then the Accusump mounts on the floor of the cowling neatly.

It keeps the Accusump very well protected if I have a collision, and keeps the oil lines short and out of the passenger compartment in case they spring a leak (nothing burns like hot oil). A little high, perhaps, but then again, it is nearer the central axis, thereby reducing the moment of polar inertia.

The -10AN lines fit in the thru-wall grommet for the previous AC lines.

Louie, e-mail them to me and I'll see if I can upload them to Rennlist.
