High Mileage?
Whats the highest known mileage of a 928? and how high is too high?
With increasing mileage does the 928 decline in performance and reliability (specifically 87 MY) ?
Assuming regular maintenance has been performed.

I can't imagine, but I recently saw a show on exotic cars and they indicated that Rolls Royce has one of the original Silver Ghost models that was driven by one of their sales persons for 500,000 miles.
He had no mechanical problems with it what so ever, but took it in for what was referred to as "minor maintenance" after 30 years or so - I can't remember exactly - and passed away before picking it up. His family was willing to part with it and Rolls Royce now have it fully restored and won't sell it, but its extimated worth is $50,000,000.00. Hows that for appreciation?

High miles generally do not affect a well-maintained 928, but an abused 928 will be much worse for wear. 928's handle miles much better than 911's and 944's. If cared-for. And certainly better than most US vehicles.
Most 928's in the 200-thousand mile range will still perform very well with good maintenance. I've heard of 928's with 400k miles on the same drivetrain. The way i drive and maintain my cars, they will do unlimited miles. it's not the mileage that harms the car, it is abuse or neglect. You could potentially see 928's outlive their owners, much good work as is being done right now on the cars.

How many have waaayyyy more mileage than the odo reads, given the propensity for 'lazy' guages and broken odo gears. Every time I see white guage faces put on cars I can't help think "how many miles were shaved off this one?"

I'll take a higher mileage shark over a 'low' mileage one...if it is to be a regularly driven one.
Let a 928 sit for a while....and she will let you know she ain't happy!!!!
These cars do love being driven!

One of my GT's has 140k miles on it and it's as solid as any I have had with 1/2 the mileage. If I recall 4 or 5 years ago we had a dyno day where the higher, 90 to 100k mi. Sharks dynoed better than the 30 to 40k Sharks.
