Default interior light delay

I have a 94 gts. The lights stay on all the time(except in the off position). Can the interior light delay be malfuctioning and where is it?? The door switches and the truck switch are ok.

The light control is in the box under the passenger seat. Alarm system and door lock in there also. Mine acted up awhile ago. Tap on box and the lights would go out. Sticky relay.

The alarm unit is expensive - so probably the last thing you want to swap out.

Test the alarm unit inputs that trigger the interior lights (see they switch with the doors) - make sure there is nothing connected to interior lights - remove the alarm unit and see if the light stays on... if the interior light feed (which is a switched ground) shorts out to gnd anywhere it will always be on...

Do any oif your interior lights not work correctly ? if so dismantle & check for a shorted line (to gnd)

Especially test the rear hatch switch (just unplug it) since that drives the interior lights directly - everything else is via the alarm "relay".

Try the trunk switch, mine had shorted once and the lights would stay on all the time in either position unless turned off. This will also drain your battery because the red safety lights on the end of each door will never extinguish, even with the doors closed.

On my car the relay logic was fooled into thinking the trunk was open and the lights should be on. Your GTS may be different.

I just re-read your first post.... sorry. Are you positive the trunk switch is ok? Will the lights extinguish properly with it disconnected?

Default Alarm Unit Position

Thank You all for your replies.
I have unplugged the trunk switch with no positive results. Is the alarm unit under the pssenger seat for the GTS?
thanks
Merry Christmas

Yes,
Right in the middle under a metal cover - you must remove the seat.

There are 2 connectors. See this recent thread for a connection diagram: (page 2)
