It finally came out. After an 8 year waite the engine has been pulled and the journey begins. I bought an '86 928 with a timing belt situation. After inspecting the damage I thought it was a water pump filure and only a few valves were involved. I got some guidance from Wally and Dave and proceeded to do some checking. All the cylinders would not hold a leakdown (?). 16 exhaust valves and 2 intake valves. The heads are in the shop waiting new parts. The one thing I am having a little discomfort with is the cost for the one time use tools like the cam guages. Can any one help me with a loan or a rental or even a tracing to fabricate a template for February use.

Thanks

just bill

Well since this post, there are what appears to be, a thousand parts stratigically located in my garage and gameroom. Putting them back in the proper order seems to be a good game plan. I have most all the tools necessary, including some fabricated, as well as the ones available from the "list". The one thing that has me puzzled is can the cam seals be sucessfully installed with out the special, very expencive, one time use tool ? I have tried to search the threads, but found no possative information on sucessful installation with out the tool. If it is the only way, can some one rent me the tool in about a month?

thanks

bill
