Default 85 Idle Control Valve and Carb Cleaner?

Hi all, and thanks for answering previous questions. After some searching, I would like to try to clean the IACV without taking off the intake shroud. There are posts to later cars with directions on sending carb cleaner down a hose and where the hoses are..

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...+control+valve

But is this feasible for an 85, or should I take the shroud off?

Thanks again!!!

Curt,

I've asked this same queston in an earlier thread with no luck. I beleive there is no easy way but to remove it and try to clean it that way. The good news is that it CAN be removed with the intake manifolds on.

I hope this helps!

Mine wasn't too bad but I replaced it anyway while I was in there. Relatively easy to get to...but usual 928 not a piece of cake due to tight quarters. Runs lot better now. Idles great. Never kills. I didn't want to try cleaning it and put it back in just to find it didn't work. Maybe it does.

Yes, that is the one! I saw one on ebay for sale last week and it was listed that it also fits a bunch of late 80's early 90's BMWs.

Looking at that picture, the top hose must connect to the valve cover. Is this corect?
