Wow! Great time! Great people! Great Cars! Great Ride! I want to do another one!

Thanks to all for the hard work. A special thanks to Jim for fixing my "long and sagging" RMB. I know, I know - long story. Think that sounds bad - ask Chuck about "premature A-hatulation".

Thanks Again!

Anyone need some skunk pelts?
Haven't ordered the replacement grill, yet. Upper mount blocks were sheared off as well as both corner front spoiler mount screws ... . Also missing a piece of spoiler by right side mount screw point. When I washed Pattycakes on Tuesday 'that smell' came back.....
Nice folks, good meet, good location.
Unfortuneately, feelings were hurt when a ECHO blew past me while crusing at 90ish. WTF.
Initially, I was stunned to see so many winged sHARKs in the parking lot.
Paul, the Ostrich Slayer, did a magnificent job on the interior. I hope no one saw me licking the full quill hides.
Marks Turbo was an exceptional install, Roger, Jim, and I watched Marks departure from the park, and while he didn't jump on it ... the turbo spooled up fast -like right now! - and was very quiet (might be that under body install). Very quick with no fanfare, will be a great sleeper weapon.
Intercooler was a good looking unit and solid -not skunk proof though-. I never thought I'd like the crinkle finish on the intake but frankly it not only looks good... it looks RIGHT.
Ern's sHARK IMO took the Rumble Fish honors.
The overwhelming number of sHARKs with GREAT interiors was a suprise to me with Chuck's being a stand out, model/year not withstanding.
Jim,
My engine compartment detail in a bottle did 'hard finish' -no dust-.
Roger,
I'll let you know when I attempt to re-shape the rear interior quarters. Thanks for the advice.
If any of you come down with the Flu... blame me.
It hit me before dinner on Sat. which why I wasn't my perky beer guzzling self and purposely as well as physically stand-offish.
Had a good time though and will try to get Zack down there for the next one.
FWIW
The guy with the blue 914 -Don ?- did a fantastic original restore on that puppy. He opened the car up front to rear and with the exception of one of the right, lower rear, roofline aluminum trim pieces it looked showroom. From what he said parts are even more difficult to come by than ours. Nice guy btw.
Ern,
I just remembered a couple of things one of them was your fender door alignment.
You said you did a shock/spring renovation. While I'm sure you did a ride heigth adjustment after the install -and probably a re-alignment- I'll bet that the springs as, opposed to the shocks, have settlled a little check those measurements again. If there was any (even minor) misalignment of hardware
during the process something could have kicked or torqued the front end just a tad. It wouldn't take much to move/twist the fender minutely and the run out over linear distance could be the cause. Anecdotally, take a look at your engine compartment/fender brace. Particularly, at the ends where they rest on the fenders ... your looking for movement on one or both sides, look for change at the brace/fender paintline, or an exposed rub wear mark on the fenderlip.
If so you might be able to make an adjustment at the brace saving you an incredible amount of work loosening fender bolts -remember the far side of egg crate and busting the seal on the adhisive is a undertaking of some proportion. I'd make two or three grease pencil marks on the door/fender line and use a flexible, 6" machinist ruler (a couple of bucks at Sears) for a baseline set of measurements. Then loosen the allens on one side of the brace and apply pressure to the fender and re-tighten. Check the measurements again.
Go easy on the fender big guy it is aluminum ! You'll need a alcohol powered friend or two with this task. And keep in mind that you are not seeking perfection ... only CLEARANCE! After all you didn't notice the gap difference and if I hadn't had to message Zack's fender/hood/cowl lines after his wreak I wouldn't have noticed either. We are looking for the easy way out here.
I wish you good luck and a relatively easy fix on this one.
Finally,
Did anyone else notice the BIG difference in ride heigths' among similar sHARKs? I started thinking it was the wide variety of tire and wheel combos but
upon reflection ... ride heigth is ride heigth irregardless of wheels and tires.
I guess as long as everyone is happy with their current setup it's no biggie and considering an alignment might be necessary after a heigth change as long as the tires are not wearing badly maybe leaving the sleeping dog lie would be the approved fix.

John,

Sorry to hear about pattycakes but glad you made it home in one piece!
Hope everything works out ok with the rebuild on the front, btw, did you wash the car in tomato juice I think that was a sure fire cure for that skunk smell.

BTW, on the quarter panels, definately give Rogers technique a go. Seems to look pretty good. Tony H. also did a writeup a while back.

Looking forward to seeing you and Zack at the next one, Nov. 10-12 2006!

Bud,

Yeah, we definatley have fun on these events! Stretch (Katy Guy) is a character! Do yourself a favor and sign up as a member here on rennlist, pretty inexpensive, but it will give you the ability to do more than reply.

Hope you and Amy had a great T-Giving, I'm sure she was out in the garage polishing the S4 Hopefully she let you sit in it!

Take care!
