Check it out. Two 86.5 928's on E-Bay. One auto, the other a 5 sp. The auto is going to sell for over 15K, while the 5 sp is in the 5K range with no reserve. Milage on the cars is similar. I know which car I would be bidding on if I were shopping! It will be interesting to see where this goes during the last few minutes of bidding.

The Price some will sell a 928 for!
They both look well cared for. The California one does look extremely good and it is very well presented, one of the best ebay pages i have seen. So the only thing i am puzzled by is the lowness of the prices even the price on the auto.
A well sorted 928 with 300+ HP should be selling a lot higher than an 80's 911. Let me tell you, there is simply not many better cars out there PERIOD! I have driven the best and all-around a good 928 that doesn't look tired is right up there.
So I say why do so many 928 owners act surprised/pissed when our cars get a little respect in the form of greenbacks.

It looks to me that the CA car had the rear quarters masked off (see http://www.californiaclassix.com/ima...ts-remote.jpg), and somehow the door jam looks non-metallic to me... Otherwise it looks very clean and well cared for, as far as I can tell.

It might be a very good repaint nicole, because of the red paint on the underbody in one of the pics and the fact that it is so fresh looking. But the joor jamb is just a photo thing.

I don't think you can get a complete "very good" paint job for $5,000. And this isn't even a Porsche color, which kills the value. This car is going for twice what it should....also, why the need for the repaint?

The door jamp is probably a cleaning/waxing and photo difference.

Check out the 911 boards some day and see what those tin cups on wheels are going for.
As for the repaint, there could be a number of reasons incl. the favorite color of the wife, but i will say that near half of the 928's i have seen in person could use one.

Just one of many examples;

Check out the miles and the price tag.
Now let me hear a shark owner justify those prices in the same breath as saying a shark aint worth ****.

Looks like the auto was artifically bid up (maybe shill bidding). There was a bid retraction and the max bid is down to 13100 or so...
