Gotta love the USPS. Rixter recently sent me a small package via USPS Priority Mail ("2-3 day").
It only took 3.5 WEEKS to get here!

UPS ain't much better...my last order from TireRack was routed by 'brown' to the wrong city - resulting in a 4 day delay.

I have had NO problems with FedEx...their ground service seems to be significantly cheaper then UPS, too!

Any Canadians that are relatively close to the border should just cross over and get a USPS box. It is even worth an hour drive and the yearly cost. The headache it would save just needing it once is worth it.

Seems like the upstart DHL has been trying to cut into the parcel
delivery business aggressively.
Had 1 or 2 Ebay items arrive by DHL.

And it don't look like they used the package as wheel chocks
for the brown vehicles. (Jets/trucks etc.)

Ernest (NYC) I'll probably never see any future UPS deliveries if they read this.

Ernest, DHL owns several European state postal services. They're only an upstart over here.

FlyingDog,

It's like Deutsche Telekom elbowing their way into the US market.
If you can't beat them. Buy'em.

Wonder how long before DHL sponsors their Yellow/red stripe Nascar racecar.
Can you imagine the brown car rubbing paint with yellow/red car.
I'll watch that.
Turn left. Turn left some more. Turn left again.

Unfortunately Canadian PO has a world wide reputation as the worst. Most knowledgeable shippers refuse to ship by USPS into Canada.
Kudos to 928 Specialists for solving the problem at their expense.

I had some Miata stuff shipped to Saudi UPS once - tie rods, and some other parts. They lost the tie rods themselves in transit , but delivered the rest of the package. Despite the tie rods being 40% of the content weight, and the delivered package being seriouly lighter than at acceptance time, and there being a form inside that noted "some metal parts lost" it took the best part of 3 months to get some money out of them. Riyadh office said talk to US office, or London , or anywhere else but us; US office said "que?".....Only ever used Fedex after that.

Thanks. I had that part figured out. The Flying Scottsman next post was about UPS...

FWIW, I always request USPS instead of UPS when having items shipped to me in Canada.

This will *most* of the time save significant amounts of duty, taxes and brokerage charges. USPS will charge $5 for brokerage (if anything, most of my shipments come through with no duty, taxes or brokerage). UPS charges $29.

I've never had a box disappear on me yet. Everything from car parts to SCUBA equipment to antique clocks has arrived without issue.

I received a package from 928 Specialists a couple of weeks ago. It took about 10 days to get to me.

I sent some seat brackets to a customer in California USPS Priority a week before he was leaving for a race. He didn't have them by the time he left, I packaged up another set and sent them FedEx to his hotel, arrived in time. He did not recieve his "Priority" package from USPS until well after he returned from the race...

Our cost to ship anything to Canada via UPS or FedEx is considerably higher than USPS but they are much more reliable. We were hit with a $39 "brokerage fee" on a $50 item!

Dave.............I procured the shocks and springs from 928 Specialists exactly the same day I bought my Motorsport X from you. As you know the X got caught in Candaian customs but did eventially arrive although without some of the parts.

The Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks 928 Specialists sent USPS remain AWOL; as Mr Bailey said an expensive loss not to mention the addition to my anxiety with at one time both your package and 928s "missing".

You are certinly right about the brokerage fees and the like, using USPS/Canada Post, but the price of my lost Corbin seat would have covered a lot of that!! 90 days so far, for the First Class Air Mail service.

It's tracked into Canada, but Canada Post WILL NOT look for it becasue it was shipped from out of the country, and USPS declines responsibility because it's "in Canada".

CLASSIC!!
