Default Odometer Problem - First Digit Moving Early

Hello - I have an 87 928S4 with 79,650 miles. The odometer reads 079650. About 50 miles ago, the first digit (0) started to move. I don't think it is still moving, but it is about half way between the 0 and the 1. Has anyone else seen this? It seems way to early for the first digit to start moving.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Interesting. I'm curious about this too.
My 87 was at 167,000 miles. After stopping and resetting the trip and accelerating quickly, I notice that the first digit was somewhere between 4 and 5! Seems to work fine otherwise.

Btw, let me be the first to welcome you to our little corner of the universe!

Thanks Dave. I always reset my trip after I get gas. I wonder if that has something to do with the 0 moving. I'm hoping its going to move back towards the 0 once the 7 turns to 8. This may be wishful thinking though. I hardly ever drive the car so I can keep the mileage down, and now it almost looks like I have 179K instead of 79K.

At 69999 miles I turned over to 270000 miles- any ideas on how to undo ?
Ultimately does not matter- as plan to drive it till out with toe tag.

Does Porsche give you a new car at 1,000,000 like Mercedes?
