Anyone know the name of the company that sells leather replacement covers. It was something like GHR, or somthing like it. Thanks... Rick

Hi Rick,

GAHH, and we are a reseller of all their products. FYI, if you buy direct from GAHH you will pay a little more than what you would if purchased thru us.

Performance Products offers a vinyl option too now, if you are really opting for price over originality....but Dave's leather might be comparable or cheaper than PP vinyl. Not sure, just offering info.

We have the GAHH Vinyl option also, look under "Accessories", "Interior", then "Seats" for details.

How good are those covers, I seen some god awful retrims and then I have seen the ones my trimmer does, it is a massive job to retrim seats in these cars especially the early seats. I don't know what a trimmer charges for a retrim in the States that know what he is doing and using decent leather. There can be such a big difference in the leather. My leather in the first car was Swizer (German company) and I'm pretty sure that is not how you spell it but they went out of business because of cheap competition from China.

The Chinese or Malays still use the name but the quality is woeful. For my second car I used Scottish leather Adrian Muirhead, it was an avaiation leather and smooth. Heaverly grained leathers are always cheaper, the heavy grain is used to hide imperfections. Porsche leather is always smooth, also Porsche leather has the pin holing. So there is leather and leather and good trimmers, these are some of the most difficult seats of any car in the world to trim. I normally pay about $4500 AUD or about $ 3500 USD for a full set, i.e front and rear.

This is the early seats.

These are the late style S2 seats

Also if you just recover your seats without having them repadded they will look really crappy. It takes a trimmer with considerable experience of these seats close to a day to make them fit nice. That is probably beyond most on this list. I have restored quite a few cars and do most of my own work being a tradesman but I wont even think about doing the seats myself.

I just added this photo so that you can see how pulled the seats can be and how this can effect the padding. It can be very hard to get them to come back into shape.

Becareful. Greg

Rick
Depending how bad your seats are...you may be able to replace the bolster (typical wear spot) section and just recondition-redye the rest of the seat! I plan on doing this sometime this year! Far cheaper than replacing the whole thing! Figure at least $1500 for both front seats in Gahh leather vs $4-500 for a section replacement + redye. Leatherique makes good products and I found a local hotrod shop that uses colorglo products that does great work!

Wow....NICE GOAT! Is it an authentic "Tiger Edition" with the ignition kit and thinner head gaskets, or just happens to be the same color? Actually, now that I resuscitated those neurons, I think the Tiger kit could be ordered on any color...I know the gold is one of the rarest and most valuable though. ONe was on the market here recently for about $40K.

Missing my Tyrol Blue '67 with Tri-Power & 4 speed, My first car. Cammed it, ported Ram Air heads, headers. Was king of the local hill for a while. Its new owner dumped $50K into restoring it to original, it and is doing well on the local show circuit now.

Pls send me a PM if you have additional images and information on the web somewhere. Thanks.
