Default Raff vs. Supple Leather

At the Frenzy, Captain Earl thought my leather was supple leather. Option cade says it's Raff leater. I've see supple leather, and I don't think i have it. Which begs the question, what is Raff leather anyway? Is this anything like corrinthian leather?

Raffleder means "gathered leather" - an easy way to tell is by whether your leather has the little holes in it on the seating surfaces.

Note that leather might shrink over time, so the gathered effect might be reduced from when the car was new.

Either way, if you don't have the holes, I'll have to hate you because that's the leather I'd want in my car, given a choice...

Andrew;
In your case Raff means 'Raff-tafarian', mon! Now by a good boy and reload the bong.

Ok I'm even more confused. Nicole are you saying that Raff is the same as Supple? I have no holes, and it is slightly gathered. So what the other leather with the little holes called?

Scott- Too much crack!

Hmm, supple leather looks gathered, at least as it appears in my father-in-law's '90. When I saw your interior pic, Andrew, I thought it was Supple leather, too. Perhaps Raff replaced Supple as the option name at some point, or are their Supple codes out there post '91?

Looking in my dealer salesman quick reference guide shows option 980 (supple leather) for $466.00. Nicole is right, if you don't have the little vent holes in the center of your seats then you have supple leather inserts...might have been added aftermarket though?

Raff=Supple, not by translation, but by option.

Aren't there three different leathers?

- Basic, normal surface without hole
- Holed, normal surface with holes
- Natural (for lack of better word), natural leathers surface meaning it's not flat like basic and holed

It's hard to describe natural version without correct words. It's like suede but maybe not quite the same. I faintly remember perhaps '88 model year brochure saying something about new leather option being available. Or was it raff/supple name change which came then?

I think I have taken my dumbsh!t pills, because I still don't understand. Is I ignorant or something?

Ernest- Iamb sorry but, "Raff=Supple, not by translation, but by option" makes no sense to me.

I have option code 980. When i looked this up (somewhere) it said that it stood for "Raff leather" Now you're saying that Raff does NOT neccesarily mean Supple (...not by translation...), but that that I would need another option code to show Supple leather (...but by option)? Now I know that option codes don't alway appear on the stickers, as it appears that I have Full leather as my A-pilars are stitched as is my sunroof trim and rear quarters - and this does not appear on the option sticker.

So I guess all I really need to know is this: Does option code 980 = Supple Leather?

It must be close. On the way back from the Frenzy, in addition to seeing pork on the side of the road, there was a TON of roadkill venison! Mmmmmm! Herd needs thinning out!

The option was listed on the GTS as draped Leather as on the turbo it is listed as supple. The turbo seats are different as the leather is soft but not loose fitted as it appears on the GTS.
