Went to the 28th annual PCA Phoenix Flight yesterday In Carefree AZ...
Lots of nice cars 2 Carrera GTs tons of 993's & 996's some interesting racers and the gamut back to original & restored 356's.
A nice turn out of 928's too. Several out of state visitors - a beautiful blue '86 with 185K miles. A Red ~85-86 in full concours division looked like it had just rolled off the factory floor. Several nice S4/GTS (inc mine). Interesting things:
All the owners were great friendly people - talked to all of them including old friendS of course.
Our cars garnered more interest than the gleaming 996's & 993's around us. Tons of people said - I always liked these cars (porsche nuts and otherwise). It almost seems that the 911 guys finally think its OK to like a 928 - no threat anymore? Or maybe they just realize a 996 has as much in common with a 928 as with an early 911...?
Other things - Carefree AZ is a cool place (except yesterday was hot!). The registration was held on the corner of "Ho Rd" and "Hum Rd". The Concours was held on "Easy Street" and "Carefree Drive".
Other roadS in this small (<<3K people) town are Dream Street, Rocking Chair Drive, Lazy Lane, Nonchalent Ave, Serene St. A real retirement community... (if you are fantastically wealthy anyway!)
Still awaiting results from the concours - I missed the dinner and announcements/awards - hoping someone will chime in - any 928 placements?
Alan
