With all my might, I cannot loosen the O2 sensor. It is at an awkward angle. Dammit, I cannot remove it even with the weight of a person standing on the exhaust. All I've accomplished is rounding off the hex into a radius Timken could be proud of. What to do now? My gas mileage is for ****!

Is the cat off the car? ( not clear from your comments) Anyway, heating to cherry red is often the only heat that counts .... as you know. If you haven't acetylene at home, drag the sucker (cat only) to the nearest muffler shop.
Much nicer than the alternative of grinding the top off, drilling out the core, hacksawing through the threads, and curling them inwards with a punch .... phew ... nah, you don't wanna do that!
