Default 85 - 86 exhaust manifolds

I know the early 2 valvers benefit greatly by the addition of the 85 86 manifolds.
Experts say they are the only years that fit. Why wouldn't the later s4 manifolds work if you cut off the top mount? I searched the archives but couldn't find the answer.

I think the 2 remaining mounts points are still not spaced correctly. I test fit a set of S4 manifolds to a spare 2 valve head laying around, and it wouldn't line up ( I had the same idea you had)

I put Chris Lockhart's '89 manifolds on my Euro 5.0 Hybrid car. I will need a spacer between the passenger manifold and the cats. I think you would be facing the same issue.

FBIII,

I'm running 85-86's on my 84 2V. They bolt right up. You'll probably have to do a little welding to the downtube to the cat to make them line up (I'm running dual cats off a later car, so my scenario may be differeent than yours).

I got a little out of them. But nothing massive.

Tiburon, On your euro 5 liter did the manifolds start out having 3 ears on each port? One on each side and the top? If so now I'm really confused.

I have a set in my garage I'd be willing to sell if anybody's interested. $300 for the set or I'll throw them up on Ebay. I'll be driving to the Frenzy tomorrow, but I'll try and check in after I arrive.

don't waist your money, I did dyno runs with both setups and there was no noticable difference. all the gain came from going with 3 inch pipes.
