Thumbs up Canadian Business Mag. - Sept '05 Pursuit Section - Gumball '05

I'm a 944 guy but I love all Porsches, and I couldn't help but smile while reading this article in the September edition of Canadian Business Magazine.

Attention 969 and Sharkwerks. In an attempt to increase publicity for you shops, i will be willing to risk my life, (because i'm such a nice guy), by eating fried eel and doing some PR work for y'all during the next gumball's dash thru asia. Naturally, i don't want to ahve to worry about subaru's either, so vehicles of choice will either be the black mamba, or kirby's silver tippy, or one as a support vehicle for the other...since i don't trust ur tippy's to hold the kind of crazy power ur putting out for 5000kms

naturally the cars will be decked out in ur companys logo's and i think you will agree that 30000$ is a small price to pay to see me (crazy brown guy canadian eh) blast by in a 969 996 eating what will probably be medium rare cat at 210MPH while getting my **** tickled by 3 lovely asian ladies who are morally opposed 2 clothing. think of the publicity...camaan kirby..all the cool shops are doin it

I can't help but wonder how hard it would be to find high dollar sponsorship for this, being that it is an outlaw race with little mainstream coverage?

The pics aren't working for me.
Ever since the post about the 928 S4 competing in the Gumball this year I have been reading and watching everything I can get my hands on. This year its gonna be acros three continents and they will fly you and your car from one continent to the next. WOW! I was planning on doing whatever it took to enter the next time it came to the U.S. until I found out that 40,000 British Pounds Stearling is the entry this year. And I doubt it will get any cheaper. What a cool experience this would be.

When Kevin was stranded at the side of the road in Sicily, I got a call from his wife asking me to send an exchange MAF to Rome that day.

I had some conversations with Kevin, and wasn't convinced of his diagnosis, but sent the MAF as agreed.

The problem turned out to be an intermittant EZK relay.

You can only admire those guys fro going that crazy event !

The "Event" is a parody of a very bad B movie ...life imitating "Art" ? which in this case was derived from the early illegal cross country "race" popularized by a sports car magazine. The $22,000 entry fee covers the nightly Banquets and exclusive hotel accommodations plus typically transportation for hangers on (which is another competition ). This "event" has little to do with motorsports and more to do with conspicuous consumption. Note how few cars actual went out to even drive the F-1 track. A group of apparently wealthy people seeing who will take the biggest risks, break the most laws driving the transit stages from track to track( timed events )then brag about it over the third wine variety served at dinner. The videos could be entitled "Rich people behaving badly" entertaining BUT...
