I have an annoying vibration from the rear from 80 upwards - I have had new tryes, wheels rebalanced twice and bearings checked and it looks like my near side rear rim is out of true (though no obvious trauma). I haven't been able to find a Hunter machine to check but it looks slightly ovoid on rotating and I am pretty sure this is the problem.
Porsche want £800 for a new wheel, so I am going to try Mille Miglia replica for £200(they look indistinguishable from the real thing). Has anyone used these? And are the ones on my 95 GTS Cup 1 or 2 - not sure what the difference, if any is?
Thanks guys.

I have a couple Mille Miglia Cup 1 wheels, as well as a set of factory GTS Cup 1 wheels. Be aware that the Mille Miglia are not an exact copy, the "spokes" are not the same width as the factory wheels. You would have to have them side by side to see the difference....subtle, but different.

Dr Mark,
On a '95 you should have Cup II/2s. Cup 1 was though very early '94 then changed to Cup II for most of '94 and all '95.

Have the road force analysis done on all 4 wheels and those that are bad can be straightened. I had the same vibration after 80 and I had 2 wheels straightened. Now it rides smooth as glass. Unfortunately I incurred some cupping on those tires while I was trying to figure out the problem. The whole analysis and repair cost less than 200.00.

Thanks George - finding a road force analysis in the UK is the tricky bit! Any of you in the UK know where I might find one?
Alan - do the Cup 1 and 2 look the same? Or is the 2 the one with the elliptical wheel nut holes - in which case I seem to have 1's.
Rich, could I get away with a Mille Miglia only on the rear - or will the difference be too obvious?
Questions, questions!

I think you can go to Hunter's website and find a local machine. At least you could in the US.
The one thing I'd wonder with having 1 replica and 3 real wheels is the weight. The replicas weigh several pounds more.

I've got both the Porsche and Mile Miglia cup II wheels.....I have had no real problems with either set. They will bend if you run them over pot holes or curbes.......We get a lot of pot holes in New England.....

Mark,
Photo 1 = Cup1 (top or left depending on browser)
Photo 2 = Cup2 (bottom or right depending on browser)
Personally I prefer the Cup1's which is just as well since that is what I have.
Seems your original owner may have specified Cup1's as a special order - probably a no-cost swap out if they were available....
I do like the Turbo Twists but not enough to pay to swap them out! besides nice to keep wheels stock unless you really hate them...

- I've purchased Cup 1's Mille Migs. What I dont like about them are- the paint is a little thin around the outer spokes and rim. Most of all what I find inexcuseable are the holes for the lugnuts, which were obviously drilled slightly oversize and did NOT clean up properly after being reamed!!- Looks ugly!- I doubt if Porsche would find this acceptable!

I have found a hunter near Heathrow, I have not used it yet but have spoken to the manager about doing 928's & there special needs & he was very understanding. £70 for the check + up to £30 for adjustments.
There are 2 other GTS's that need an alignment check, so maybe we could arrange a special deal for 3 at once ?
