Sounds like the diaphram split.

Thanks to Roger for donating the booster and to John for helping Roger take it off of one of his cars today, I have a used one now, but I want to test it with the Mity Vac before I go through the pains of installing it, It does not have the master cylinder on it so how can i test it? Any ideas? I need to somehow block the hole where the master cylinder bolts on so it's vacumm tight. I tried tape but it dosnt seem to work.

It will probably be fine. Put some silicone brake grease around the MC hole before assembly.

Justin,
The push in vacuum pipe on the unit you have does not hold vacuum. Try it on its own. Seems to have a crack in the housing as it would not hold and under air pressure there was a leak.
Use yours - test it before installing.
Roger

Update: I changed the booster that Roger gave me (Thanks Roger!!) and everything is good again, I think the brakes are better than before. Maybe the booster was weak and I didn't even know it. Took me about 45 min. to take it all apart and about 1.5 hrs to install everything. The hardest part of it all was getting the hard metal lines lined back up, on the 80' models (dont know about other yrs) you have to remove the equalizers to get the booster out. So I had about 8 lines removed. Bleeding took awhile too, did it the old fashioned way, my speed bleeder is at my dads house, didn't feel like making the 45 min round trip drive to get it. All is well now, oh buy the way, when I took the old booster off and looked inside it, where the master cylinder mounts there was a rubber o-ring just laying around in there, I bet that was the problem. Anyway, thanks to everyone who helped, especially Roger and John!

Glad to hear the happy ending. Pretty rare for those to go, but I guess it CAN happen. Sounds like it went pretty smooth. Roger sure is a nice guy, isn't he? Hope you bought him a beer or two.
