Default Ignition Switch Problem

While slipping the key out of the ignition, after turning the shark off, the entire ignition "barrel" slipped out with the key. I was able to place the barrel right back into the housing with no problem and the ignition seems to function properly. I'm sure wear has something to do with this, but is it repairable? For now, I must hold the barrel in by placing my left index finger on the rubber trim ring while removing the key. Anyone had this experience?

it's been swapped at some point
there is a pin that holds the cylinder in place and would have been drilled out at some point if it's just falling out
you can pull everything off and insert a pin to better hold it

Rixter,

I am having some trouble visualizing where this pin may have been. Is it a set screw? Weird thing is that this just started happening. I've never had this problem.

the pin is set into the side section of the column, I'll take some pics tomorrow to show you a closeup
chances are, when the new one was put in that they put a screw in to hold it and it has come loose
you'll understand much better with pics, I just don't have any here at home that show just what I'm talking about

here's a pic, the pin is set into the column area
most likely this pin was replaced by something else that has rattled loose over time

hope this helps
