wiring harness relocate
I'm thinking of rerouting the part of the harness that runs up in front of the timing belt so that it goes up the space between the belt and the engine on the driver's side. Some people have said that's the way theirs already is and it would certainly better enable timing belt work. The problem I noticed is that it would seem to run very close to a couple of oil cooler hoses and the exhaust manifold, so I am concerned about the heat. Is this a bad way to go or am I not looking at the area right?

If you ran the harness behind the covers, the passenger side of the harness would be subject to the right exhaust manifold. Therefore, requiring the harness jacket to have the orange protective heat cover. Also the oil level sensor wire may be short. With the air pump and compressor and related plumbing on that side not to mention the heat shields their might not be enough room to route the harness.

I'm talking behind the covers on the driver's side as it appears to be in Matt's picture there (thanks, it's even a dual distributor). Can this orange heat protector be bought and added easily? There is plenty of room (as opposed to in front of the timing belt covers requiring destroying one to remove), but again that driver's side manifold and the two oil cooler lines are what would cause the problem.
And Matt, what are you doing for the fan that seems to be missing?

The engine driven fan is installed now. That picture was taken in June.
I haven't paid attention to where it runs around oil cooler lines or anything else behind the covers. There is several inches of slack at the end. With the car jacked up just enough for me to slide under, the alternator can sit on the ground.
