John:

I've got 30# injectors and I'm running the 85-86 fuel pressure regulator with a piggy-back, boost-adjustable RRFPR, so I get 30-32 fuel psi at idle and higher pressures under boost. This is manageable under all driving conditions by the 02 loop when I do a reset, it just doesn't stay that way after several days worth of driving. Thanks for taking time to opine regarding the MAF.

I would've thought that "Supermodel" in my signature was sufficient for people to realize that the car was supercharged, had they not previously viewed the many supercharger threads of which I've been a part, and that furthermore, because I've idenditifed the car as an S4 and Tony referenced the MAF, that special attention didn't need to be paid to my incorrectly using AFM as a synonym for AFR , inasmuch as it doesn't do much to help further the diagnosis of my problem and generally sounds a bit condescending.

Loren, If there are still more pedantic, probably irrelevant, but otherwise-easily inferred through deductive reasoning technical mistakes about how I've chosen to describe the problem versus what I more precisely should have said, lay them on me. I must confess that I'm not sure how to interpret the spirit/tone of your replies (neither sarcasm nor ridicule quite seem to fit, although I believe both are reasonable approximations), but it's certainly a novel way to compete for business.

I like to think that I'm a reasonably bright guy, who after two years of 928 ownership in which all the most expensive problems have either happened, are in the process of happening, or will probably happen in the immediate future, has developed a modicum of understanding about the car and its systems. It seems like you're talking down to me and I can't quite figure out what would motivate you to do so, but the bedside manner sort of rubs me the wrong way and I am disinclined to accept the invitation. Probably I'm just being overly sensitive.

In any event, thanks to everyone who took time to post a reply, especially if I have misinterpreted the spirit of those replies. Since there have been no glaring "have you thought about this" things that I haven't already thought about, I'm going with my original instinct.

I'll post a follow up after Sharktoberfest, and if it doesn't work, then I guess I'll be back for some pointers about to use a telephone and obtain preferential pricing through spirited negotiation.

So I met Rich at Sharktoberfest and we swapped my LH.

Turns out my old LH had been rebuilt some time ago, by a rebuilder that Rich didn't seem too impressed with.

One week later, I can say that my drifiting idle richness is gone. My mileage has improved quite a bit, too.

Rich was great to work with--we exchanged quite a few emails before coming up with the final diagnosis, and he emailed me afterwards to follow up.

While the real test will be the long-term reliability of the unit, I can tell you that dealing with Rich and Electronik Repair from Arizona was a very satisfying experience.

Thanks to all who offered suggestions.
