Porsche's biggest rip-off (factory paint sticker)
Hi Everyone,
Just a quick question. I have recently repainted my baby and in the process I had to remove the drivers side paint colour code sticker(drivers door sill, part #928 701 167 04). I went to Porsche in Hong Kong and ordered a new sticker, I payed $64.42USD for the sticker and waited six weeks to receive it. Yesterday I picked up the new sticker and it was nothing like the original! Porsche had sent me what appears to be a sticker for a 996(part# 996 701 167 01), although it is a Porsche sticker it not an original 928 sticker. I was very upset seeing as I payed that kind of money and got something thats not original. The original sticker was a silver leaf material and much smaller in size, also the codes on my original sticker were different 72993Q1 (New sticker72991WBL) although the color description on the new sticker is correct (Satin Black Metallic ) are the colour codes one and the same? CAN I GET AN ORIGINAL STICKER?

Factory is obviously selling what they have and do not much care about our cars originality. It's business for them meaning we have to go elsewhere to find what we need. It shouldn't be too dificult to have original style sticker replicated on very similar looking material.

Dan,
we got in a wrecked boxter, while looking for the option code sticker I noticed the paint code sticker was a 928 part... I'd be happy to see if I can get you the correct sticker if you like

For the money you paid you could get your own custom label/sticker made, did you take a picture of the old one ? If not get one from someone.
Someone in Florida was selling complete sticker kits for 928's on Ebay too.
If you can get one from Porsche that would be cool, if not there are other options.

Hi Chris,
I don't have a picture of the old sticker but I do have the pieces left over from the removal. Who can make these things?
P.S. the side molding and stickers you sold me looks great on my repainted shark
