Now what - all gears won't shift without grind
84' 928 5 speed. Just r & but 'd both the Clutch master and slave, both had small leaks but enough that I couldn't get sufficient pressure to shift.
Now that I have replaced both units and bled the system to the point that I have very good pedal pressure I'm having trouble shifting into any gear.
If I let the engine idle for a few minutes before attempting to shift I can get thru all gears but there is still some hesitation at each shift but no grinding.
Any thots on the cure for this. Note, I have no air coming out when I bleed at the slave.

Well, just priorto the clutch master and slave I replaced the shift cup, the plastic/nylon liner in the cup had broken down. I was careful to note the distance from the cup to the shift rod and set the new one up to that adjustment.

You might try to push the slave rod all the way in with the bleeder open - to displace any 'hidden' air. If that doesn't restore full stroke as witnessed via the lower bell housing inspection hole, then do the disconnect on the master actuator rod. The method is to pull back until fluid shows up dripping into your clean interior - preceded by an air pocket passing the piston sealing lip. .

Following my initial shifting problem, as outlined in the post, I let the car sit idle for several hours, when I tried it again late last night the shifting was almost normal ???. I will do the "retract the clutch master piston" as a next step anyway. Thanks
