Previous owner of my OB was a dead guy. A so called psychic friend told me ''He says it's a gem, and he wants you to promise to take care of it''. She said that so many times that I finally promised.

I still have the car, go figure.

Honestly, you can't make this stuff up. A week after this, I got a magazine with an article ''What would you want to happen to your Porsche after you die?''. The author maintained that he wanted his to go to someone who would take care of it, and drive it as it was meant to be driven. He said he wouldn't be able to rest until he knew it had a good home.

Too weird for me, no kidding.

By the way, he was German, and I know he loved the car because he wore the syncros off second gear. I can picture him cranking it up to this day. I bought it from the second owner, who couldn't wait to get rid of it. The guy misrepresented it and overcharged me. Shortly thereafter, his house burned to the ground along with the dead guys antique Bently tourer. No lie.

Both of the PO's I did get ahold of weren't bad guys....The first PO is a good guy, the bummer was the car blew its TB on him on the San Mateo bridge....nice guy, its too bad the car died on him, but one man's loss is anothers gain!

The PO's of my car (I suspect there were 4 or 5) had good taste in autos, but at least the last two were dolts. Neglected everything.

Sharky was one neglectful owner away from demise when I happened along with my checkbook and my patience. Remember that, car! You OWE me!

My p.o. kept every record, kept the car original, but fell behind on all the big maintenance items...he wouldn't have known as the car ran fine. Then he traded it at a dealer for a subaru and they gave him $4500 for the car (!!!).
The car is having a great second life here with me now. It sure won't be ignored and neglected.

My PO won his 928 in a poker game, sat for 2 years, needed the money for his Mullet car, it's not been licenced since 1996, Im not sure if thats good or bad, what I do know is it was a basket case, the question is, was it a basket case in 96 or what ? Either way, Ive spend 5-7k getting it back to a point where its still stitting in the garage not moving needing a paint job now all the missing bits have been repaced.

oohhh the stories I could tell about the POs on my cars
77 - holes cut in dash for speakers, whole interior essentially gutted/disassembled, fuel leaking everywhere.. etc, etc... I found another PO of the car who, incidentally, is now my go-to wrench in tight situations

88 - still sorting it out, but the 50+ft of excess wire and recent nightmare on the rear end should suffice for now

I was happy to take both of them off the POs hands

I just decide to sell my car and this thread pops up.

My car had 2 POs... I would like to think of them as POUS (Pieces Of Undeserving S**ts). Even though my car only had 2 owners, it needed work. I mean WORK. I have my car up and running like a champ now, but it was not easy. The next 928 i add to the stable... well it'd better come from a person that was literally sleeping with it. I have no interest in half loved 928s anymore as they are a real nightmare to figure out what and when went wrong.

My car's two previous owners took very good care of it and fixed any little thing that went wrong or needed attention. I plan to do the same thing but am not sure there will be a next owner other than my son or daughter.

I think I'am the third owner of my car. I really don't know the cars history before the guy I bought it from. He gave me a stack of reciepts. I think he took good care of the car till his business started to fail. He had quit driving the car and pawned it to cover his business. It didn't work out for him and I got the car from the pawn broker. It's needed small things, but it runs great. I'am in the process of getting it back to as new condition. I'am in no hurry, and after sitting on my butt for 4 months, now I'am swamped with work and can't get to the things I want to do.

One of my GTS's previous owners was kick a$S. He had DEVEK upgrade the suspension with externally adjustable Koni Red's, sway bars, etc. If it weren't for that, I just might have been able to talk myself out of buying my GTS.
