Talking X installed - 2 cats for sale

Long story short I replaced my stock CAT set up today with the Motorsport X.

As well as the X I replaced the O2 sensor and adjusted the drive shaft 1/8th"

Results: power is available at the flick of the throttle.............engine power to full red line and the sound!

Before the car had a hesitancy and took longer to respond to foot input............Now its hang on from the get go. Power is NOW and the sound!!

Revs climb easy to red line and have a lower power kick in the seat than previous.........and the sound!!!

Did I mention the sound............excellent product; great job Dave, well worth the logistic wait...........Malcolm

Gee, I'm blushing...

We installed one with cats on a supercharged 89' today. With a stock S4 we didn't notice a change in sound but with the supercharged one, Woah baby! We will be dyno testing it to see what performance gains we achieved but they are significant.

Does your 88' have the smaller GT style resonators? With the larger 87' S4 resonators and no cats it wasn't a significant change in sound. With the rear muffler in place it's almost as quiet as stock. (ask Folding Wing 5-speed)

I'm glad you are pleased. Sorry it took our combined postal services so long to get things straight.

Dave.......no need to blush, credit where credit is due

I'm not sure if my car has the GT resonators although they are quite small. There was a significant change in sound, quite a bit louder and very pleasing to my ear keeping in mind I have a RMB installed also.

The logistics issue was with our 'free trade' border customs.........perhaps they thought it was a something we could use during our fall hunt season. Little did they know they were right..........I'm going hunting alright right after the F1 race.

Significant seat of the pants difference Mike. 1st and 2nd gear performance is outstanding. In the third gear the car was pulling 220kph before it upshifted to 4th.

I'm going out again this morning now that I'm pumped from watching Kimi win the Jap F1 race from 17th on the grid.........inspirational

Dave, Whoa on that “stock S-4 no change”. You’re just too used to the supercharged and RMB ones! Even my old ears got a treat after your X-Pipe was installed on my stock 89 S-4. “Did I mention the sound” Yep, my 12 year old exclaimed after his first ride post install, “Dad this is cool”. It’s absolutely a real nice change even with the stock rear muffler. I’d say it’s just right. “Is it faster?” Yes but it’s hard to tell what caused what as we did a few other things at that time such as re-indexing the cams. It’s quite a bit faster than it was prior though.

Hey Mark,
I guess I need to hear your car again, maybe take it for a longer spin than around the block.

Your 12 year old...uh....grandson? (just joking, Mark is one of those people that hides his age well and obviously acts a bit younger too!)

Cmon Dave... I definitely hear a difference over stock. It has a dignified roar befitting an exotic, without sounding like a domestic v8. I highly recommend this x to everyone on Rennlist.

Dave...........the family is down at our farm for our Canadian thanksgiving this weekend. My son in law was outside unloading his truck when I came screaming down the highway toward the edge of our property. He described the sound as a racing motorcycle on full song freely revving to the next gear shift.

Now I need better brake pads to get the beast slowed in time........wonder why?

But Steve, yours doesn't have cats...

Hey Malcolm, certainly gets some attention doesn't it? You will find out that your fuel mileage goes down but it's from using the throttle heavier. It's fun to let the pipes sing.

And for the AC/DC fans, our Back in Black version...

I am having one done in silver for testing. If it holds up, they will be available soon. The silver seems to be the most asked for but it's only good to about 1200 degrees whereas the black is good to 1600 degrees. I don't know what temps the X-over sees, my measuring equipment doesn't go that high.

Thanks for the complement Dave. I can’t hide my age from my son for he can make me feel older than Methuselah sometimes. Gee I thought my hearing was really hampered by age and my VN artillery experiences but I see now perhaps long runs with a 928 and RMB could be a possible cause for you missing the beautiful sound your x-over really makes, even with your cats and a rear muffler I’m sorry that you missed a really nice ride Mark O. and I had this weekend. Beautiful fall colors and it wasn’t snowing! If you haven’t finished your Ketchmi plated putt-putt by the next outing just borrow one of your shop 928s.

Mark................so you have stock headers, the Motorsport X and then stock resonators and rear muffler? I just got back from scaring the local wildlife with the sound from the car @ +220kph.........I may have to fit the stock Rear muffler back on for longer trips.............WOW does it sing!!!

Dave.........yes it does get quite the attention but in this rural setting its mostly from the farm livestock. Noticeable faster fuel guage heading toward the E direction............noticeable faster speedo headed toward very very fast level.

Nice Back in Black.............I'm a Led Zep guy from back then; any chance of a Zoso version?

Yes Malcolm,
She’s got stock headers, stock resonators, stock rear muffler and cats. The only real difference is I replaced the old stock cats with new ones from Dave at Motorsports. It was probably time as she has about 154k miles. Due to what Dave says is my old age I can’t remember what cats we replaced the old ones with but I’m sure he can chime in and tell you. Yes black is nice mine is the black one behind Mark O’s 1990 silver S-4 in the picture.
