It was a lovely Sunday in Las Vegas. I had just put the new door vents in that I found at 20th Street Auto Parts while on a business trip to Phoenix this week. I decided to go on a Sunday drive with the family. Went to Sunset park in Vegas, let my 3.5 yr old swing on the playground. We decided to leave and go to the house and grill food, so I stopped by the Von's store. On my way back to the car, I unlocked the drivers door, pulled up the handle.......and NOTHING. Things were going too good leading up to Sharktoberfest. I came here and found some great writeups, and have the parts on order from 928 International. Now I just have to go and buy beer and wait for the parts. Time for 4-5 hours of snuggle time with my Shark.

My passemger side door handle is about to let go. Im just waiting for the most untimely moment for it to happen. Ive done the handle repair once...PITA. buy a cheap magnetic pickup tool for the screw that you WILL drop down into the door panel trust me

Sympathy extended. Just did this job a couple of months ago myself.

It sounds like you've already found articles and write-ups. Like the "Broken door handle hinge replacement: nasty!!" one from a couple of months ago. And George Suennen's really good write-up of the procedure.

You might also consider replacing your three-stop door stay while you're in there, if appropriate. Only adds about 5 to 10 minutes to the procedure, since you'll already have the door panel off.

Sure seems like this has been happening to a lot of cars lately. Hope there's a lot of those parts available.

Thanks a bunch! I already have my Harbor Freight mag. pickup and use it constantly. I have those writeups also. I just need to teach my daughter how to use a screwdriver and get her to do it.
