I've done my towers twice without any sealant. Dry as a bone.

The tower mating surfaces shouldn't need any machining.

If there's warping, or damage, on one surface or the other, then some sealant will solve that. If it wasn't leaking before dis-assembly, it'll be fine.

I avoid putting on sealant as it always squeezes out. Into coolant is one thing but into an oil feed is another.

What if you put the sealant on the outer lip. Then it won't sqeez to inside, right?
