Sorry to hear about your loss, Jessa.
Call your state's insurance commissioner's office and ask them what to do. They are on your side and will tell you exactly what to do. It doesn't hurt to bring up the fact that you spoke with them if the insurance company gives you a hard time about true replacement cost for one in the same condition you had restored it to. The insurance company does not want complaints on file with the commisioner since they have to deal with that office to get permission to operate in your state.
Good luck!

That stinks Jessa. Glad you are okay. Give 'em hell. Don't give up until you are (in legal parlance) placed in the position you enjoyed prior to the accident.

Jessa,
Don't be surprised if they are not willing to accept receipts that are over a year old.
I totaled a 924S recently and went thru the same hassles you are experiencing.
Take the advice already given and DO NOT accept the first few offers!

Insurance "adjusters" (which is an interesting name) are evaluated on their abilty to RESOLVE claims and not have them bumped up to the supervisor. IRS auditors I have been told track the same ability to close the case as part of employee reviews. Much like our legal system (traffic tickets in particular) if only a moderate number refuse to settle at the lowest level the entire system would be overwhelmed. Many people fail to recognize that the insurance company settlement offer is simply an offer . Calm quiet persistance is required to negotiate a fair settlement. Good to remember that the money the adjuster is paying you is NOT HIS MONEY. You were driving around in a car which you really liked had spent a lot keeping it very nice and intended to keep for a very long time when through no fault of your own their insured breaking the law took away from you.

Jessa, I feel your pain. I was hit from the rear in my original six while I was stopped at a red light in San Jose. No way was I at fault. So what? You must be ready to square off with these ****** if you are to survive what's ahead.
First, be advised that no one but you cares about your situation. Not anyone. Not even your own insurance company.
Second, take Dr. Bob's advice, and rent a replacement vehicle at the other guy's expense and DO NOT LET GO OF IT until you have settled to your satisfaction. I learned that the hard way, so please listen. Later I was told by a well known insurance adjuster in Norcal who had a cherry 356 to never let the rental car out of your sight until you are happy. Not ever. He held on to his until his 356 was fixed and it took over two years. I was playing by my version of the golden rule and offered to buy another car (a Rabbit) if the insurance company would buy it instead of a rental car, figuring it would be considered as a good gesture later on. HA! HA! HA! What a naive foolish thing to do to myself. Better I had hit my foot with a sledge hammer.
Third, find the quickest way to contact the California Insurance Commissioner.
I found that was the best way to resolve frustrating dealings with non-responsive adjusters.
Fourth, don't trust your attorney. Most attorneys want to settle out of court and avoid the risk of trial. Fairies, all of them. Buy some Pampers to leave with the ones who try to con you into settling. When guts were passed out, those lawyers were absent. Creeps. I hired one of the rottenest ones I knew, an ex-prosecutor who would sell his own mother into whoredom.....and he screwed my case in the last minute by "neglecting" to file a critical document on time, and it caused the exclusion of my expert witnesses in court. What a f&&%$*g ahole. I had them by the you-know-what after 2 1/2 years, and he screwed it all up. Trust yourself only.
Fifth, do not even think about settling for medical and pain and suffering for at least a year or more. No matter what they offer you or threaten to do to you.
A surgeon advised me of this when I thought my body was OK. And he was RIGHT. About 6 months down the road, though I had had some pain in one knee which I didn't take seriously, I suffered a complication in both my knees and back, and ended up needing serious surgery on one knee to remove the cartilage which had torn and was all ripped and shredded inside the kneecap. The surgeon who repaired it confirmed the accident was the proximate cause, though it happened a few weeks earlier. Tell the other guy's insurance company to take a hike and cool their behind until you're certain no symptoms will occur. And do not let your own insurance company insist that you visit their doctors for an examination, even if you have symptoms. (See number one above). They will hire a ***** doctor to tell them that you are perfectly allright. In my case, I made the mistake of cooperating with my company which was making med-pay payments to surgeons in lieu of a final settlement from the other guy's company. Their goon ahole doctor claimed nothing was wrong with my knee to give them an excuse to terminate my med-pay. About three weeks later it locked up and I needed emergency surgery to remove the cartilage which had jammed inside. No more Mr. Nice Guy. This is not a game. Don't cater to these jerks. They hit you. They owe you. Get a nice rental car and take life easy until they cave.

Well, OK, if it makes anyone feel better, she says it is not her fault though she rammed the other guy. Maybe he drove out in front of her and violated her right of way. Whatever. If the other guy is at fault, then I shall rephrase my statement by saying that the other guy caused you to hit him, (
) and the resultant damage to your car was caused by "them".

Good luck finding the right 928. The others are the right ones too. My luau feet are not so smashed up anymore since I have been away from Hawaii so long and would need to toughen them up again. I used to walk on coral and put out cigarettes with my bare feet. Auwe! *** why hawd!!

THE CAR IS GETTING FIXED!
The frame is not bent, its all just body damage! Details are still be hammered out and such, but my baby should be back on the road well in time for the next SITP.
