Default Desparate: electrical help

I'm taking the wife on a Fall Color Trip tomorrow (her first road trip in my "new" 928) and the instrument panel is dead.

Here's what I did. Tried to replace the 2W safety light in the lower inside of driver's door (the one behind the pull off red rectangle. Pulled off red cover, pulled out light fixture (came out with 1/2" too spare). Removed bad bulb, cleaned carroded contacts inside fixture, tried to replace with LED but it wouldn't fit so I put the old bulb back. Reinserted fixture and red cover. Started car.
Instrument computer was just a thin, solid yellow line - no mileage, temp, odo, etc. Oil, gas, and temp gages were out. Computer went to complete black. Tach and Speedo out as well. Seatbelt light, turn signal light, etc. work.

I hope it's just a fuse. I might be able to replace one. I'm no mechanic.

Ideas?

It sounds like a fuse - try No 25 or 26.

Yes,
I concurr - saw exactly those symptoms when the fuse is blown!

Hopefully an easy fix. One of the door end light terminals if shorted to
the door metal will blow the fuse - next time - pull the fuse while removing
& reinstalling.

#25, a 7.5amp. Found an unused one in the telephone slot.

Thanks to Alan and RG100.
