'84 Rear Spoiler refinish....
I took the spoiler off a couple of days ago. TONS of dirt under it (around the window channel). The clips (holes for the screws to go in) under the 'main body' of the spoiler are rusted, most are unuseable. I'll have to figure the way to replace them to get a solid attachment.
Side Pieces are OK.
Now, I took the spoiler last night and used a garden hose to clean it off.
Today, I wiped Mineral Spirits on it to finish the cleaning process.
Let it dry a couple of hours.
Took a can of Dupli-Color Bumper Black and sprayed it in several light coats.
Looks MUCH better--not perfect. What I should have done (and, might still do) is try to figure a way to sand it to remove the remaining original coating on the spoiler and smooth the small surface cracks (not visible before I sprayed, but they showed better afterwards).
Will have to see how it holds up--overall, it does look better, so that is a plus.
No Body rust under the spoiler--car had been re-sprayed in the past, so they may have taken care of the issue back then.
