TWO WEEKS TO 3RD COAST!!!
928ers,
Just wanted to give one more shout-out and reminder of the upcoming Third Coast Event happening in about a week and a half (Sept 23-24th) If you're checking in at the Hampton, there should be a table there from the Chamber of commerce to pick up a small goodie bag. We'll be meeting at the Chili's next to the Hampton INN at 7pm that Friday. Come through to the back and the Bar area, they have an area roped off for us. The view on the lake is awesome!!!! You can come and go as you want and we'll more than likely head over to the Hampton, either the parking lot or the Hotel to talk cars and have some adult beverages. This may go late night!!!!! The 928 Owners Club has sponsored us for 36 t-shirts.
Every driver will get one. We will also give out one extra to a passenger/guest until supplies run out. After that, T-shirts are available for $13/each.
Next day, breakfast on your own.(depending when you get up) Free full breakfast at the Hampton. We'll meet a little early in the parking lot where the cars are parked and get set for a 10am tour. We'll take the first leg of the tour then head back to meet friends and family for lunch. Lunch is flexible as there is probably no place big enough to accommodate all of the drivers and families. We'll reconvene at the Hampton for leg 2 of the tour. We'll be leaving at 2:00pm sharp. Second trip should be a blast as well!
After the second leg, you are free to go wash the car (parking lot hose will be provided) or lounge around. We will meet at the River City Cafe (2 doors down from the Hampton -toward 281) We have a private room in the back so just ask for the 928 Third Coast folks and they'll take you back. River City has a good selection and again the view is awesome (right on the lake!)
Sunday- you can get up early and was your car in the w. parking lot. The show and shine is literally 3 blocks away in the Johnson Park pavilion 3. 10AM-We will be lining cars up in the shade. The pavilion is a great place with 100 year old oak trees, covered pavilion, close r. rooms, and a place for the kids to play right next to where we will be.
Our paintless dent repair guy will be there at noon. I'll be signing folks up for first come first serve so when he gets there, we can start asap. $75/panel - unlimited dents per panel. He will take cash or check.
Lunch will be served around noon as well. We will have hamburgers, Hotdogs, and drinks. Lunch is $5 per person.
Also, for those of you with 88 and up cars, we will have the spanner available for diagnostics. Our own factory trained technician Roger Tyson
will guide you through it's use. (Now we aren't sure what factory Roger came out of!
) We'll hang out until 4pm ish and we'll go our separate ways until next time. If you have any questions, or need to get in touch with someone while you're there, please call myself or Roger Tyson at the following #s.
Roger Tyson mobile 972-525-9128
Chuck Schreiber mobile 214-213-7189
In addition, please consider bringing the following to make it fun all weekend: Fold out chairs, cooler, radio for communication on the tour, adult beverage of your choice, hats, sunscreen, cds, tools, and car cleaning gear.
Please pass on to anyone you think might be able to come. I look forward to seeing everyone that weekend! Again here's the link http://www.iqes.net/tes/Texas_928.htm

Just want to wish all a safe and mechanically uneventful trip. I really wish I could have gone this year, but prior family commitments must be attended to. Take and post lots of photo's and share some memories with the rest of us (hopefully no moving violation stories LOL!).
Anthony,
We'll miss you, but there will be more. Yes Hopefully no moving violations, as lastime I was with Mayzurk traveling at Supersonic speeds back home and almost had to endure a full body cavity search by sheriff Roscoe P. Coletrain!!!!

Well guys, I think John (soontobered) and I arnt going to make it, I have to work till 6pm Friday. Johns car isnt going to ready and I think he had his heart set on driving it down. may be driving down in his wifes car Sat. for a few hours though, dont know yet, if we dont see you guys, be safe and have fun.
I wish I could stay for the whole event, but we have a house deep under construction & family in from CA, so it appears I'll be there for the show on Sunday at very minimum. Sure wish the temperatures were "normal" for this time of year in lieu of the current elevated temps.
Given the forecast path of Rita (headed straight to Houston), it may really come in handy having a hotel reservation in central TX. I may show up with more people, pets and stuff than planned! It's early though, hopefully the path will change.

Sounds like quite a few folks have other obligations and unfortunately James Morrison said he would not be able to make it either. I too have a conflict on Saturday, but plan on showing up on Friday for a while and back again on Sunday... provided I don't have to haul butt down south to board up our coast house.
Sorry to hear that you will not be able to make it Tony. Hopefull Rita will not be paying us a visit.
Anyway, I very much look forward to meeting you fine folks and checking out your cars... especially this turbo wonder Mark is supposed to be bringing.
Just a few more days. Can't wait... Travel safe!
Regards,
Bill

Even though Rita's progress might somber the mood for some of us who live directly on the coast, Linda and I will show up as planned.
Who would have thought, when we reserved our room months ago, that it would serve double duty as a hurricane safe haven.
Looking forward to seeing all the wonderful sharks again and showing off my own projects.
Hey Mark, I am very interested in your turbo project. Plan on giving rides

Steve,
I am sure there will be - we just need to agree a time.
Jim M. and I are going to run the tour routes tomorrow.
We will try and offer a meet time for Friday afternoon.

Hi Guy's, not too sure about rides: Williamson County Police are some of the WORST law enforcers in Texas...that's where some of the stories stem from, so beware & take no chances. I mean this. I've lived in Austin my entire life, & though Williamson Co. is just a neighboring county, the stories still run strong.
I plan on coming out Sunday for sure for the show & to show. The car runs fantastic: basic starting, stopping, driving, decel, is AS-STOCK, which is exactly the feel I was after. The moody idle & erradic driving was something the SC cars were/are hard to shake, but not this.
Extremely pleased.
BTW, the car does not have the final production muffler on it, so it's a bit more grumpy & looks typically Japanese for the next two weeks. Most will hear me coming.
