To reiterate, there's no warning on start up, only after the car has been driven for a considerable distance does the light come on.......apprx 100kms.

Other items, disconnect every connection point, clean the contacts, and plug them back together.
It is much more labour, and a lower possibility, but the wheel speed sensors could be covered with metalic crud and/or the tuner rings filled up too. Cleaning these items can clear up problems too.

Thanks Rich..........I don't have an oscilliscope at home and I wont be able to get a relay until back in the city next week. I am a EE so will go at it with gusto this aft and post the results.
I have several service docs but not the '85 so much appreciate the schematic and notes...........going in.
