Default Tires for 16" Slotted--What Sizes will fit.

Local ad for $150 for 4 x winter tires (basically new).

As my tires are dry rotted (one won't hold air for whatever reason), I was going to get a set of new tires anyway--since Winter is coming (don't anticipate driving it much during the winter, but there is always the possibility), I thought get some cheap winter tires while I continue the fixup of the car. Come the spring, new streets will work (possibly a second set of wheels to mount them on).

So, the tires on the car now are 225/50 16.

The Ad for the tires is for 225/55 16 (need to know if these will fit).

I looked on-line and find that the 16" (at Tires.com) lists as 225/50 and 205/55--doesn't list the 225/55 as an option.

Wondering it these tires will fit.

Thanks!!

The average 225/50R16 is 24.9" diameter and in 225/55, is at 25.8". At 0.9" taller, ther car will sit ~ 0.5" higher: If your suspension is set at normal ride height, they should fit.

The 2nd number in the tyre size is the aspect ratio.

225/55 16 is read 255mm wide by 55% of 255mm tall fitting on a 16" rim. This size of tyre is the same width as what you have on the car now just slightly taller.
