This is a new car to me with no records so I dont know what has been done to it. It was very well maintained though. I drove it on one trip with the ac and it got fair gas milage. Maybe around 16-17, but around the city I am sucking down the gas like crazy. I do have a semi lead foot, but with the AC i am guessing close to or a little less than 10mpg. I have not filled up yet.
150k miles, runs very strong, and no detonation at all with 87 with the AC on. Not sure if it was chipped, or when the o2 sensor was changed.
I plan to check the plugs and the timing this weekend.
Anything else obvious i should look for. I had a 951 recently that was getting 10mpg and that turned out to be the tps found via the blink codes.

From what I understand the early cars got worse mileage than the later cars...but not by a whole lot...still 10 in town is pretty low...unless your really footing it! My 88 auto typically gets around 18mpg average....the worst I've seen is about 13mpg driving only in town.
I wonder how the race cars do on the track? But thats typically in gallons per minute etc...not gallons per mile? Marks?

My '85 gets 13.5 in the city, and 21 on the highway.
Your car needs a good basic tuneup; once that is done, have your mixture checked and set with an O2 gauge. A compression check is a good idea too. If your mileage is still worse than my numbers, then start looking for reasons why.
