OK in that case slap him silly ... or more accurately sillier. Simply ask if he has EVER driven a 928 ever ridden in one ? when he answers NO just say "I thought not" ...

Thaddeus
At least he is your equal and not your boss! Still ignorant boasting fools like that tend to end up as upper managment?!?!?! The standard dumb *** boss acting like he knows everything when he doesn't no squat! Still you should take him for a ride...he will be amazed at the lack of (fiberglass induced) squeeks and rattles in a same age car with probably twice as many miles! Not even counting the better performance...I think the stock 86 vette was about 230hp...far short of short of your "stock" 288...just drop that hint on him!

Smile, nod, and....ignore him. Pushy, ignorant people with bad taste are to be pitied, not confronted.

Case in point how could he think putting down your cars would build rapport ? A bit like starting conversation by telling someone that their kid is sure ugly ! Leave him with his beliefs it is not worth the effort to try to educate him.
Plus, there's little to be gained in arguing with a fool............

The guy is an idiot. What a terrible way to build a rapport by bragging!

To put this into perspective of how stupid he is, consider this. He has just proven to you (and probably many others with such chit chat) that what comes out of his mouth has no depth or brain behind it. How does he expect to have others respect him and do their best work for him if he is trying to show how superior he is.

Sorry - my response was half baked and hasty. I was rushing to put the kids to bed.
Um, I won't bother to edit.

Sorry you don't like the new guy. You will have your chance to spank him.

I am in complete agreement. Thaddeus, I'd be - at this point - far more worried about the damage this idiot PM can do professionally and expend mental energy appropriately (as in CYA or Frag him - whatever the standard of behavior at your company is) rather than worry about his little 'vette fantasies.

86 Corvette!?!?! I think I have roasted a few of those on the freeway in my 82 928. The guy is plainly ignorant...as most Vette owners are...trust me when I tell you that I have known a few. He probably only did some worthless mods, but if he did any engine mods, he now has a go straight MORE unbalanced car than before, that is almost impossible to control! You need not do a thing but smile. AND, make sure you smile whenever he talks about his car. He is already trying to make up for what he lacks by saying the things he did. He WILL bring it up again. If you just smile like "Ok bro, what ever you say" it will be clear to him that he knows not of what he says and will think "Hmmmm, maybe I am missing something about these rear engine 968's!"

LOL..faster? handles better? Get real!

Pretty much any 928 should be able to handle a mid-late eighties vette, and any 928S or newer one of the early 90s models.

Those cars are really dogs.

ZR1 excluded, of course...

He is probably bragging about his POS Chevy because deep down he feels threatened by the fact that you have a Porsche and he has a Chevy. Even if his Vette is faster, who cares? The joke is on him anyway because it's still a Chevy. Seems like these days everyone is driving a Vette.......I see them EVERYWHERE........I rarely see a 928. What we have is unique and special!!
